Job Description:
A vacancy for a Spacecraft Operation Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Corsham.

The primary role is to ensure that the company’s in-orbit spacecraft platform activities are conducted safely to maximise the useful life of the spacecraft.
The secondary role is to support any other company project as required and to represent the company as part of the customer monitoring team throughout the assembly integration and test phase of any new spacecraft.
The successful applicant with be responsible for:
  • Spacecraft operation planning and execution for different LEO missions.
  • Preparing documentation for the operation of LEO spacecraft.
  • Ground network design, implementation and planning.
  • Assessment and analysis of different spacecraft platforms trends.
  • Anomalies investigation and resolution.
Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
  • Monitoring day-to-day Spacecraft Platform subsystems.
  • Liaising with Flight Dynamics (FD) and Satellite Design Authority (SDA) to ensure the safe and efficient scheduling of spacecraft operations.
  • Monitoring of the execution of operations.
  • Understand and monitor all the spacecraft subsystems (platform and payload) through monthly and yearly analysis.
  • Provide & review spacecraft in-orbit platform trend analysis data.
  • Write, Validate and Technically Review of Operating Procedures and associated documentation .
The role might also require to:
  • Be an active part of the design of the concept of operations.
  • Be an active part of the design of LEO missions from an operation point of view.
  • Assess risk elements of all aspects of spacecraft design, build and test.
  • Optimise the operations to reduce the workload and the risks.
  • Maintain and enhance analysis tools to be at the forefront of new technologies.
  • Be an active part of Pre-launch, LEOP and IOT including (Ground testing, Ground Compatibility Testing, payload testing.
Required skills:
  • BSc Systems Engineering, Physics, or equivalent.
  • Spacecraft operation experience.
  • Multidiscipline in all aspects of satellite design and AIT phase.
  • Ability to get on with all people and work with all disciplines and features in all spheres of the project.
  • Experience with Python coding.
  • Have a flair for trouble spotting and be able to take and hold sound decisions - even in the face of adverse reactions.
  • Good written and verbal communications skills and ability to report succinctly on all aspects.
