We are looking to expand our in-house legal team to support our evolving business requirements. We are looking for a commercial solicitor who is experienced in providing advice on a wide variety of contractual matters, with a particular focus on supply chain and technology. The role requires direct interaction with our procurement and digital teams, engineers and external suppliers and, as such, provides a real opportunity to work with a cross-functional team and help shape the future of JLR.The successful candidate will join an existing team of 15 lawyers. The role is full-time and will report to the Head of Legal – Digitalisation, Innovation and Enterprise. The role is primarily UK based over our Whitley and Gaydon sites.You will be responsible for:- Providing legal advice in a commercial context.
- Advising on, drafting and negotiating various commercial arrangements, including: procurement contracts for a wide range of services such as logistics, engineering, and consultancy; outsourcing of strategic services such as media planning and buying and IT service support; software licence and SaaS agreements; telecommunications agreements; hosting arrangements and strategic partnerships across the business.
- Identifying key legal and commercial risks and making decisions which have significant and critical impact to the business.
- Working closely with our wider legal team, including international colleagues.
- Managing a high workload, whilst meeting critical deadlines.
- Drafting new template documents and delivering legal training.
- be a qualified solicitor with the right to practice in England and Wales.
- have strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify key legal and commercial risks and provide solution driven advice.
- have good attention to detail.
- have effective prioritisation skills.
- have excellent communication skills with the ability to process commercial and technical information and present the output in a user-friendly way which is easily understandable by non-lawyers at all levels of the business.
- be willing to question and challenge business decisions and individual stakeholders at all levels.
