As a Barclays Software Developer you will be working as part of the API Engerring group in making a big difference with the objective to deliver software development for one or more applications / products across the detailed design, build and unit test phases of the lifecycle, on time, to high standards and adhering to our Engineering & Development best practices. This role is ideal for someone who has experience in Core Java & Open Source Frameworks.

What will you be doing?

  • Maintaining a technical understanding of a component or sub-component, providing support for technical queries, live incidents and problems
  • Contributing to the software development for one or more applications / products across the detailed design, build and unit test phases of the lifecycle,
  • Ensuring that the technical integrity and quality of the applications / products is maintained across their lifetime, contributing to the development of any technical changes
  • Supporting other teams during the various stages of application lifecycle including build, test, deploy and live support
  • Contributing to improve to our Engineering and Development best practices
  • Ensuring that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience of build tools including Gradle/Maven, Git, Jenkins, Nexus, Confluence, Sonarqube, etc.
  • Core Java experience
  • Familiarity with Open Source Frameworks including but not limited to Spring Framework, Spring Boot, or similar
  • Understanding of RESTFul APIs or Web Technologies

Skills That Will Help You In The Role

  • Experience of using Cloud environment
  • Experience of writing automated tests
  • Understanding of Distributed Systems or Microservice Architecture

You will be based in Radbroke, Knutsford. The Barclays Technology Campus just outside Manchester is our tech command centre and a vital strategic powerhouse behind our global operations. The campus is set in a 64 acre self-contained site, in a beautiful green environment and it offers unrivalled facilities for work and for play.
