Job Details

It’s an exciting time to practice within Children and Families in Fife as we seek to deliver ‘The Promise’. Fife has made a focused investment into our service and as such we know we can support social workers to have small caseloads ensuring they can work creatively and innovatively with families. We have a strong ambition to support children to stay within their families and in their communities.

We can offer all Social Workers a diverse, supportive and interesting induction, access to a range of learning and training opportunities, coaching and mentoring and regular supervision with a keen focus on developing and enriching practice and encouraging career progression. We believe that by investing in staff, we are investing in the children and families who receive our services.

If you are a qualified Social Worker and wish to have a career in supporting children, young people and their families in a statutory setting then a career in children’s social work service in Fife awaits you. We offer a high level of support and supervision to NQSWs as well as opportunities for experienced staff to develop and progress their careers.

We offer post qualifying support, mentoring and supervision enhanced by a creative training programme (in house and external) to enable Practitioners to confidently undertake a range of tasks including complex assessments of need and risk, understanding trauma, adult attachment etc.

We are currently shaping our future workstyles and as such we are introducing a mobile and flexible home/office working arrangement.

The Person

You will be educated to SCQF level 9, which includes a Degree in Social Work or equivalent.

You are required to register with Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of taking up employment in this role and to complete the required Post Registration Training and Learning (PRTL) over the first registration period.

Before confirming your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.

You will save money on your SSSC fees as these will now be paid for all roles and grades by the Scottish Government.

We are currently shaping our future workstyles however, in light of current advice, we are introducing blended home/office working that will include office access days each week with homeworking for the remainder of your working time.
