Summary

Social Worker - Children in Care team

What are we doing for our social workers?

We Will
  • Give you the option for flexible working options from your base office in Chippenham, including working from other hubs, working from home, full-time hours over a compressed fortnight (due to government restrictions all employees are currently working from home, where they can. You may be required to work in the office depending on current cases/visits you may need to carry out)
  • We have attractive, modern, bright, spacious offices equipped with the latest technology.
  • Offer a variety of progression opportunities; including Practice Educator training, CMI accredited leadership programs and career paths into management, via our Aspiring Manager and Assistant Team Manager roles.
  • Enable you to practice within a ‘one child, one worker’ journey, where as an experienced social worker you will have the opportunity to work innovatively with children, young people, care leavers and their families whilst these children are accommodated by the local authority.
  • Provide you with the opportunity to work with young people using a long-term relationship-based model and approach; once their permanency plan has been established.
  • Locate you within a team which includes experienced Personal Advisors with whom you will co-work in preparation and planning with young people as they transition into adulthood.
  • Support you through providing monthly management feedback and reflective supervision in a collaborative environment where innovative practice is encouraged.
  • Through our new teaching partnership with Bournemouth University, we will give you opportunities to develop a research mindedness approach within your practice.
  • Provide you with a laptop and mobile phone, so you can work flexibly in alternative environments; supporting practitioners to be more effective and flexible in their practice.
  • Offer an attractive rewards package, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, rising to 30 after 5 years’ service, as well as the option to purchase an additional 20 days, use of a pool car scheme and offer council parking within close proximity to Wiltshire Council offices.
Why Wiltshire?

We help all families to thrive, and we are looking for bright, innovative people to help us, building upon the considerable progress we have already made across our services including the launch of our PAUSE, No Wrong Door and Early support hub in our MASH team.

In the Children in Care Team, we are planning ahead to meet increasing demand, whilst ensuring varied and manageable caseloads. This includes significant investment in new positions at management, Social Worker and Personal Advisor levels to ensure the best outcomes for our Children and Families. We have recently launched our local offer for care leavers and ‘The Leaving Care Forum’, which compliments the Children in Care council, as we strive to increase inclusion and participation of all our looked after and care experienced young people.

Experience “EPIC” and find out more about how we empower our people to innovate and collaborate to build stronger communities!
