Who We Are…

Job Description:

The Wireless Business Unit develops wireless connectivity solutions ranging from IoT to Automotive to Medical, using Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, UWB and proprietary technologies. Connectivity solutions is not just a catchphrase to us, we really do it all, from SoC development to certified modules to developing our own wireless stacks.

The SoC Architecture/Systems team is responsible for driving product development definitions, including IP and product roadmaps, device specifications and playing a central role in the New Product Development process. As a member of this team, you’ll be a key element in the development of the next generation micro-controller SoC(s) with wireless connectivity targeting the broad embedded market space.

How You Will Contribute To Our Success…

You will bring technical expertise in one or more of the following areas to bear on a wide range of problems related to SoC and Module proposals, roadmaps and implementations.
  • SoC Architecture (microprocessor or microcontroller architecture and designs)
  • Security/Crypto
  • Bus Fabrics/Protocols (AXI, AHB, APB, OCI, etc.)
  • Wireless/Networking (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Zigbee, IoT and/or wired networking)
  • Low Power
  • Embedded Firmware/RTOS
  • Functional Safety
  • Packaging technologies
  • Foundation IP
  • Standard peripherals/communication protocols (USB, I3C, Capacitive Touch, Graphics, etc.)
  • Power Management/Supervision (DC/DC converters, POR/BOR, etc.)
  • Wireless Industry standards and standards bodies
Week-to-week activities will include a wide range of tasks, from writing architecture/micro-architecture specifications, crafting new product proposals/roadmaps, serving as the Lead Architect on SoC development efforts, to developing and delivering technical training. As the Lead Architect for a project, you’ll serve as a focal point for information and decision making, by working closely with a range of job functions across multiple international sites (some travel may be required on occasion). You’ll be expected to consider a balance of performance, power, cost, risk and project schedule when defining SoC features and architecture.

How We Will Contribute To Your Success…

This is a dynamic and challenging technical role with high visibility – you will have the opportunity to work across expertise domains and to develop deeper expertise in one or more of those domains. Through mentoring, internal/external training, and on-the-job experience, you will gain solid knowledge of the technical areas listed above, as well as in the following non-technical areas:
  • IP Acquisition (IP search, evaluation, make vs buy, acquisition process)
  • Patents
  • Financial cost models (for determining viability of SoC projects)
  • Skill in a variety of collaboration tools
  • Exposure to international teams and cultures
  • Decision making for "grey" problems
  • Multi-tasking and time management skills
  • Communication skills - from peers to Executive Staff
Who You Are…

Requirements/Qualifications:

The Ideal Candidate Will Also Possess Most/all Of The Following Traits

We’re looking for one or more motivated Engineers to join the team and contribute in a product-focused SoC Architecture role. Ideally, you’ll come from an SoC Design/Verification/Validation, Applications Engineering or Systems background with at least 5 years of technical experience and a relevant degree.
  • Ability to operate independently day to day
  • Ability to drive decisions across a team
  • Strong attention to detail with strong written communication and presentation skills are essential
  • Willingness to step outside traditional job role when needed
  • Understanding of cost/schedule driven product development
  • Product focused with deep technical knowledge
  • Skill in advanced documentation systems (Framemaker, SDL, etc.)
  • A "Don’t let things slide" mentality - willing to see things to conclusion even when no one else is
  • Not afraid to say "I don’t know" - willing to seek out others’ opinion/knowledge
  • Understands how to compromise between technical perfection and practical development
  • Ability to translate high level requirements and use cases into a set of detailed architecture/micro-architecture specifications, while taking performance and cost considerations into account
  • Able to explain technical subject matter to non-technical audiences
For this role, a wide breadth of topical knowledge will be considered a huge asset, as will an understanding of SoC architectures from System Level down to RTL.

We believe the right candidate may not necessarily have all the qualifications today, but could be someone that can quickly grow into the position while contributing to our success.
