Site Joiner

Our clients are joinery installers and manufacturers based in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire. They work primarily with the healthcare sector – providing fire doors and mental health (anti-ligature, anti-barricade) doors among other joinery and manufacture work in furniture, shop fronts etc.

Working within the site team, you will be a self-motivated, responsible individual, presentable, neat, tidy, and hard working. Able to communicate with others and appreciate that you represent the company.

You will be required to work as part of a productive team producing high quality workmanship whilst ensuring site programmes are met and work is completed in good time, to a high quality and that all work is snag free.

Ideally you will possess a strong site joinery working background and be willing to share your ideas for best practice when working on given tasks with the team. You will be a key player in developing Apprentice and Junior Site Joiners.

Responsibilities
  • To be able to understand and work from CAD drawings to install items
  • Comprise and carry out accurate cutting/materials lists
  • Work out the most appropriate and productive installation methods for each item on site
  • Assemble and install doorsets accurately and as per standards to meet all certifications
  • Assembling and installing furniture on site
  • Use hand tools, power tools and site equipment in a safe and responsible manner
  • Install all productions to the highest quality following all rules to ensure work passes certification
  • Ensure all measuring, marking, and cutting of materials is completed according to requirements, following plans where applicable, accurately and ensuring that materials are not wasted
  • Can work to deadlines without compromising quality
  • Discussing plans and following instructions
  • To undertake other reasonable duties (within your skill level) that assist in the general operations of the Company
  • Ensure as far as reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of yourself and others likely to be affected by your actions

Requirements

Well-motivated and able to work well with others and on your own

Excellent carpentry skills, ideally have recognised qualification or a period of demonstrable experience, along with references of site carpentry and joinery

Good communication skills and able to read, understand and interpret plans and drawings

Working with and understanding site tools, machinery, and conditions

Knowledge of working on site with other tradespersons, trades, subcontractors, etc.

Knowledge and understanding of site rules, methods of working and expected behaviour

Element of understanding design and technology

Good maths skills relevant to carry out duties

To be thorough and pay attention to detail and have a keen eye for quality

Take on and retain new productions and their functions, fixing methods, etc.

Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations

Sensitivity and understanding

Possess initiative

Full, clean driving licence or prepared to learn to drive
