Job Description

Job Title: Site and Facilities Officer

Job Type:Permanent

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Job Location:Cramlington

Salary: £24,000 - £28,000

As a Site and Faculties Manager you’ll be responsible for the efficient and effective management of the stores and waste areas, including delivery management, and undertaking of stock takes. In addition, you will undertake facility maintenance (including scheduling of regulatory requirements) and other requirements to ensure the smooth running and upkeep of the site.

Key Accountabilities;
  • Undertake risk assessments, including manual handling, and manage workstation assessments.
  • Inspection of the workplace, working with teams towards continuous improvement.
  • Responsibility for fire risk assessment, fire compliance, including fire drills and upkeep of the fire safety documentation and procedures
  • To manage the delivery and receipting of all supplies into the site in a timely and cost – effective manner.
  • To effectively manage the distribution of supplies on site, ensuring all supplies are tracked through the process and to ensure we do not run out of any supplies vital to the operation of the lab.
  • To ensure a monthly stock take of all supplies is carried out.
  • Ensuring the cleanliness of the entire site.
  • Co-ordinating any urgent, day to day maintenance requirements of the site through liaison with external contractors, or through the performance of basic maintenance functions around the site as required.
  • Managing the safe disposal of all waste on site in a timely and cost effective manner.
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring downtime to business-critical technical machinery remains within acceptable levels.

Qualifications
  • Proven experience in an Environmental Health & Safety role
  • Sound knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation and best practice
  • Experience of working in a facilities or maintenance role
  • An eye for detail and ability to work to a consistently high and reproducible standard under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to multi-task, work under pressure and to strict time deadlines
  • Flexible attitude to working hours
  • Familiarity with standard operating procedures within the laboratory and management systems (ISO17025, ISO14001).
  • Database management and a strong IT skill set in Office systems
