We are looking for a Shipping & Logistics Manager to join our Planning & Supply Chain team within our Currency division.

This role is the focal point for Shipping within Supply Chain and will coordinate the allocation of duties and output throughout the team whilst also providing commercial support to all Currency sites for their logistics and shipping related activities.

The role holder will also manage all aspects of the shipping department, including but not limited to; costs, security, commercial documentary credits, insurance & forwarding agents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Group Currency Shipping Team, responsible for the raw material shipments from the designated paper mills, Features and Polymer from Westhoughton and the high value shipments from our print sites by Air Freight, Sea Freight and Air Charter.
  • Ensure that the Currency Shipping Team raises all relevant shipping documents in accordance with Customer, Country and where applicable Letter of Credit requirements.
  • Create and maintain a rolling forecast for all product lines on a rolling 12-month basis in line with the associated MPS.
  • Liaise with Security personnel to ensure that proposed routings meet the required security criteria
  • Monitor and track shipments to ensure they are progressing smoothly and address any issues
  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs requirements and documentation procedures
  • Actively Manage the relationship with the 3rd party providers.
  • Conduct monthly review of freight forwarders’ performance against contracts and SOPs.
  • Work with nominated Freight Forwarder to manage and optimize transportation routes and modes to minimize cost and improve efficiency.
  • Manage the Shipping and Logistics personnel, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure smooth operations
  • Support the team in building and bridging relationships with other departments.

Working hours: Full Time - 36.5 hrs per week (9am - 5:15pm Mon, 9am - 5pm Tues - Fri)

Base location: Basingstoke

Skills, Qualifications & Experience
  • Full understanding of incoterms standards
  • Good knowledge of Documentary Letters of Credit, ideally accredited to Certificate for Documentary Credit Specialists (CDCS)
  • Understanding of Brexit requirements regarding Importing and Exporting
  • Understanding of UK Export Legislation with regards to Import and Export Licensing
  • Knowledge and experience of shipping regulations & customs
  • Understanding and experience of using export documentation software
  • Ability to provide out of hours support at short notice
