Job Title: Shift Lead Engineer
Location: London

Role Purpose: To act as the Lead Shift Engineer consisting of a team of 2 and to attend & complete Planned Maintenance and related reactive and chargeable works for the client
This role will form part of the CBRE Team who provide first line support for all reactive calls reported by the Staff on site. CBRE provide 24/7 service delivery support for the Hospital for all M&E Services. The Helpdesk is also managed through CBRE Helpdesk Co-ordinators based on site with the use of Concept and PDA System.

Key Responsibilities

  • Line Management responsibility for the Engineering Team
  • To provide technical and operational support and advice to the engineering team
  • Resolving escalations from the Helpdesk and the client within reasonable time; ensuring solutions are implemented quickly and effectively
  • Ensuring planned maintenance services are scheduled and completed on time
  • Ensuring that compliance documents; contract and HTM logbooks are fully up to date and audit ready
  • Managing client/end user escalations and queries
  • Encouraging the reporting of hazards on site via the engineering team and sub-contractor supply chain
  • Ensuring that PPE, Uniform, Tools and Hazards are logged, monitored and managed
  • To provide support outside of normal working hours in the case of call out/escalation from the shift team, client and/or Client staff
  • To co-ordinate and manage the maintenance and uptime of MTHW and Steam Boilers for site; ensuring any changes in services are communicated to all stakeholders with immediate effect
  • To ensure that significant operational events and impacts to bed spaces are communicated to the client, Site Nurse Practitioner, Site Director and CBRE Management within 1 hour of the event being reported/attended
  • Resolving technical issues on site by providing assistance and support to the engineering team or arranging for specialist sub-contractor attendance
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and fault diagnosis and manage the corrective action and reports/quotations required
  • Support and facilitate technical sub-contractors during planned or reactive service visits and minor works while ensuring they confirm to the site procedures and agreed risk assessments & method statements
  • Responsibility of completion of works orders within their Service Level Agreements
  • Undertake daily plant walk rounds to note and proactively repair any defects and to maintain plant rooms in a clean, tidy and safe condition
  • Manage, rectify and record defects through the helpdesk to ensure SLA Timeframes are always met
  • Provide rapid and effective response to customer and helpdesk requirements
  • Review RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) and sub-contractor competencies before work permits are authorised
  • Escalate any issue that would affect the availability, health and safety and security of the site
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety requirements
  • Adhere to all current company policies and procedures and to take an active approach in continuous improvement of these procedures
  • Ensure full shift report is completed for handover to oncoming shift
  • To provide support to the wider CBRE Engineering Team in the event of an emergency call
  • To support in providing cost information for chargeable Electrical/Mechanical and Plumbing works on site
  • Attend training scheduled by the Management Team (E-Learning and role/site specific courses)
  • Provide regular hazard reporting for the site on a weekly basis
  • Person Specification/Requirements
  • Experience of working within an NHS or Healthcare environment would be advantageous
  • Demonstrable experience within a similar role
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with people of all levels of seniority
  • Served a full Technical Apprenticeship and hold a technical qualification such as Electrical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering (C&G, HNC, ONC, etc)
  • Qualifications related to Steam and Pressure Systems would be advantageous
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of all building services; particularly A/C and BMS
  • Demonstrate previous experience in fault finding with various systems (mechanical & Electrical)
  • Ability to fault find on both Mechanical and Electrical Plant and Equipment
  • Demonstrate knowledge of L8 Compliance
  • Diligent and pro-active
  • Ability to prioritise and act on own initiative.
  • Excellent organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • A flexible approach to work with a willingness to travel would be essential.
