ASL/Pharmagraph is looking for a Service Engineer to join our well-established and growing engineering company. The role is based in our Runcorn (Cheshire) office, servicing the Northern region and reports to the Northern Area Service Manager. The company’s products are used in environmental monitoring systems for pharmaceutical, NHS and life sciences customers, as well as for general engineering and military applications.

This mid-level position presents an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to progress their career, as the role has the potential to develop into a Senior Engineer position over time. The ideal candidate will have previous experience of calibration or maintenance in a technical customer facing role. A current driving licence is essential, and a company van is provided with this role.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide on-sight calibrations on a wide variety of instrumentation supplied to the pharmaceutical market.
  • Provide on-sight servicing on a wide variety of instrumentation supplied to the pharmaceutical market.
  • Provide practical guidance throughout the routine on-site calibrations/service at customer sites, mentoring and developing junior staff members.
  • Work in clean room facilities and plant areas.
  • Generate and complete calibration certification to a high, GMP compliant standard.
  • Willingness and flexibility to take on temporary responsibilities as cover for other team members in a small business environment.
  • Travel to other areas of the U.K. and Ireland may be required on occasion.
  • Work semi-autonomously as well as within a team.

Key Skills

  • Good practical aptitude is required together with a general interest in technology, computing and/or engineering.
  • Previous experience in calibration or maintenance in a technical customer facing role are essential.
  • Experience within the Pharmaceutical market is desirable.
  • Good levels of numeracy and literacy with experience of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and Outlook).
  • Conscientious approach to work with a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as semi-autonomously.
  • Display initiative when required and possessing the flexibility to take on new tasks when necessary.
  • Professional manner when dealing with both internal and external customers.
  • Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage own time and priorities.
  • A proactive and enthusiastic approach to work with a desire to learn new skills.

Education / Experience

  • Demonstrable knowledge and practical calibration experience with a technical qualification at least HNC level.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a technical customer facing role, ideally in the pharmaceutical market.
  • GCSE Maths, English and Science at Grade C or above.
  • Good levels of numeracy and literacy with experience of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access and Outlook) are preferable, as well as a conscientious approach to work with a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • A driving license is essential.

Engineers will be given training, and the opportunity to learn from other team members. They will also be able to utilise their skills and experience to mentor junior staff members, with a view to potential progression to the role of Senior Service Engineer in the future.

Working arrangement

Working hours are 09:00-17:30 Mon-Fri excluding Bank Holidays.
