Your Role at Ogilvy:
Senior UX Designer

About this role:

The Experience Design team at Ogilvy combines user research, design best practice, and creative thinking to deliver user-centred experiences across a range of platforms and channels for our clients.

In this role you will be working on a range of projects from design sprints to digital products and multichannel customer experiences, where you will represent user needs, interpret and applying user research findings and design solutions in line with UX and accessibility best practice.

Reporting to the UX Director, you will be accountable for the day-to-day delivery of project work including user research, IA, journey maps, wireframes and prototypes, and providing updates at daily standups and client presentations.

You will also have the opportunity to work with a wide range of other specialists including research, strategy, creative and UI, where you will be responsible for keeping user-centred thinking front of mind in our design process. You may work as the sole UX practitioner on a project or client account, which will give you the opportunity to hone your leadership skills, whilst still being supported by the wider UX team.

As a champion for UX work within the business and with clients, you will need to have strong stakeholder management skills, be a natural communicator and problem-solver, and be confident and accountable for work in flight.

Working in multi-disciplinary teams (design, build, planning, data analysts) you will be focused on:
  • Requirements gathering
  • Working with and managing stakeholders
  • Creating UX outputs such as IA, user flows, journey maps, wireframes and prototypes
  • Conducting and/or attending user research, identifying themes and integrating findings back into UX design work
  • Identifying opportunities for our clients to improve or develop new products and services
  • Running design sprints and workshops
  • Working with creative, design and technical teams through delivery and optimization
  • Evangelising UX and XD work around the business
  • Identifying themes and trends within the wider UX industry and contributing to webinars, thought pieces and white papers.

For this role we are looking for:
  • Minimum 5 years in a UX design role
  • Ability to clearly communicate and present work to senior stakeholders
  • Ability to recommend user-centred and design thinking methodologies with clear rationale, on a project-by-project basis
  • Experience and evidence of running your own medium-large sized projects
  • Experience and evidence of defining information architectures
  • Experience and evidence of sketching and prototyping in a range of tools – both lo and hi fidelity (Note: UI design skills are not required for this role)
  • Ability to clearly communicate rationale behind design solutions and demonstrate how they meet user and business needs
  • Rigorous attention to detail and the application of UX design best practice and principles of design psychology
  • A passion for understanding user behaviour and creating intuitive experiences across any device and beyond the screen
  • Experience and evidence of conducting user research, with a knowledge of the role of different methodologies in the design process, and the ability to discuss and apply findings
  • A qualification in Design, Psychology, HCI, Cognitive Science or Product/Industrial design, or equivalent industry experience
  • A self-starter who will take ownership of their own training and development, with the mentorship and support of colleagues.
  • The ability to manage your own workload and deliver work to an impressive standard and within project timelines.
