Job Title: Senior Technical Services Manager

Location: Blyth

Job Purpose

ISG have recently secured a £500m new build Battery Gigaplant project in Blyth. We are looking for a Senior Technical Services Manager who will manage the technical function for a significant project or a major section of the project and be specifically responsible for the integration of systems with a number of Technical Services Managers to develop and deliver as a team. The Senior Technical Services Manager will manage the various and multiple disciplines associated with the mechanical, electrical and specialist systems, including designers and subcontractors, through the design development, contractor design portion (CDP), site installation and commissioning. They will ensure all works are fully coordinated and delivered in accordance with the contract programme.

This means that for the operation they will manage the multidisciplinary functions associated with the project and their associated activities from conception through to completion, delivering work that meets project requirements, customer satisfaction and in accordance with ISG standards. They will play a major role in ensuring Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Policies are delivered.

For British Volt it is expected that this role will manage the design, development, delivery and commissioning of large sections of the project that cover specialist site wide installations such as BMS/SCADA/ EMS, Fire Detection and Suppression, Security and Access Control and integrate these throughout the facility

Key Responsibilities

The person will be able to establish, maintain and manage effective MEP resource and team at bid, delivery and post construction phases. They will lead and provide a professional, comprehensive and sustainable service for the customer and key partners and suppliers. A critical element of this is to ensure adherence to the design brief/scope of service and develop a comprehensive scope of service for key stages of project and ensuring they lead in developing a fully coordinated MEP strategy with the construction design and work closely with discipline lead designers to deliver coordinated solutions.
  • Work with the Principal Technical Services Manager or Project Director to maximize the overall strength of the business by fully engaging with the project management team
  • Report to the Project Director or Principal TSM depending on the size of the project and its organisation
  • Contribute to the growth of the business through building relationship
  • Take full ownership for MEP delivery on a project or large sections of the project.
  • Contribute to provide value and options
  • Provide effective and timely assistance, advice and support during the project, and work with the project teams responsible for delivering it

Technical Services Function

The individual will develop collaboration for the technical services function and will take a cohesive and encouraging approach to team working with the project team, designers and sub contractors. They will have the ability to take control of situations and assume responsibility for organising and guiding where necessary

Experience & Skills
  • Good general knowledge of building services systems.
  • Competent in Health and Safety management.
  • Programme driven, pushing each stage of the building services contract works.
  • Good organiser and good at system implementation.
  • Prepared to be innovative.
  • Political awareness
  • Low level strategic thinker for building services skills within Division.
