Job Role: Validation Engineer
Location: Blyth

ISG have recently secured a £500m new build Battery Gigaplant project in Blyth.

We are currently recruiting for a Validation Engineer to support and lead onsite engineering activities for large scale civil engineering packages on one of the largest projects in the U.K.

What will you be doing?

Safety & Environment
  • Support on method statements, risk assessments, task sheets and procedures, environmental procedures.
  • Establish, implement, manage and monitor environmental control systems
  • Proactive in safety conduct, seeks to resolve and improve all aspects of safety in construction
Quality
  • Conducts dimensional control and checking for works under their remit
  • Undertakes as built surveys for a section of the works and presents results in format that can be included in project records if required
  • Proactively reviews dimensional design data early, raising technical queries to eliminate delays.
  • Ensures that appropriate as built surveys are undertaken, correctly recorded and communicated
  • Manages the survey equipment ensuring it is suitable for the works and in calibration so that there are no dimensional control errors due to survey equipment
  • Implement Zero Defects and absolute completion Initiatives.
  • conducts and documents pre and post pour checks
  • Produces and implements and documents any third party quality reports witnessing
  • Analysing concrete test results and tracking any potential defective results
  • Raises non conformance reports and reports potential non-conformances accordingly.
  • Undertakes as built surveys for a section of the works and presents results in format that can be included in project records if required
  • Collates and files quality records within the project document control system
  • Implements all required company test plans and quality regimes.
Methodology & Construction activities
  • Reviews and understands all method statements and risk assessments and comments on he suitability along with ensuring works are conducted in accordance with approved methods
  • Produces sketches and drawings to aid in the planning of construction methodology and resolve buildability & sequencing issues
  • Measures & monitors material usage
  • Produce short term programme sequences with the support of the construction manager
  • Proactively identifies & swiftly raises design buildability issues
  • Interprets the professional services teams’ surveys & investigation and communicates proposed methodologies to suit conditions
  • Proactively promotes innovative construction methodology
  • Interprets and abstracts construction information from the drawings and specification and provides this to the supervisors and operatives in a clear and understandable way using sketches
  • Marks up drawings & specifications with any changes referencing the documentation that verifies the change and works with the construction manager to inform the commercial teams
  • Makes sure that temporary works on their section are identified and the temporary works procedure is applied to them
  • Monitoring subcontractor progress and performance
Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience of successfully carrying out a similar role to a high quality.
  • Fully conversant with CDM and all relevant Health & Safety legislation and previous experience of successful implementation on a major project.
  • 3 years of onsite experience as a minimum
  • Previous experience acting as a site engineer on large scale civil engineering projects with package values in excess of £25m
  • Hands on experience in quality management systems
  • Fully proficient IT skills, inclusive of AutoCAD software and the Microsoft suite of office programme inclusive of teams and remote working abilities, BIM 365 & SharePoint.
  • Experience of Laser scanning, usage of Matterport
  • Experience in using drones for progress surveys
  • Proficient in a BIM driven design process and information management
Qualifications
  • Degree or recognised qualification in Civil Engineering is preferred
