Senior Support Worker

Job description

Recruiting for two Senior Support Workers to join our Homelessness and Complex Needs Service in Kensington and Chelsea!


GBP 23,000 working 40 hours per week, plus 25 days Annual Leave, Pension schemes, Staff discounts, healthcare and more.


RBKC Complex Needs Service has 5 distinct housing components with a further 3 floating supporting sites accommodating up to 136 residents who present with multiple and/or complex needs including but not exclusive to, substance misuse, mental health, domestic violence, history of violent behaviour, ex-offenders, chaotic and hard to reach groups. All staff in the service may be required to work across any of the sites supported by the service.


Job Overview:


As a Senior Support Worker, you will be expected to undertake duties as part of the management team which includes supporting the team with their responsibilities whilst working flexibly to respond to the needs of your individual customer case load. This role will require an extra dimension of experience in order to meet the role competencies for this position.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Carry out administrative tasks as relevant to the service and directed by the team leader or contract manager
  • Work proactively with the team to handle the service caseload and support an effective team approach to meeting each customer’s identified needs
  • Motivate your team and champion a positive local culture within your service
  • Carry out other administrative tasks as relevant to the service and directed by the team leader and contract manager
  • Contribute to a positive service environment, ensuring the service is supportive and a place of safety and stability for customers. This includes working flexibly and being proactively in delivering, reviewing and arranging effective support for emerging needs and risks in order to prevent escalating concerns
  • Ensure daily activity take in place within customers choice .Supporting customers in the delivery of their prescribed health, physio, nutritional and sensory routines with guidance from/in partnership with external healthcare professionals
  • Carry out initial assessment for new customers and Keep up to date referral log
  • Deliver effective resident meetings with customers and ensure that information, reporting and communication
  • Partnership working with a range of stakeholders including families, healthcare professionals, external personal assistants other support agencies to maximise outcomes for customers
  • Deliver all aspects of support to enable a customer to develop independent living skills as appropriate to the individual needs of the customer
  • Support customers to prepare for move on and work with externals to facilitate move on
  • Participate in support planning, risk management and assessment of needs in line with support planning whilst supporting members of the team with case work management
  • Work with customers to promote social inclusion to promote independent living, encouraging customers to maximise their skills and choices
  • Involve customers in the design, development and delivery of the service through co-production.
  • Report and react to any observations relating to customers welfare
  • Proactive development of links with local statutory and voluntary organizations to provide a range of engagement opportunities for customers in the community
  • Shift lead, ensuring effective coordination of staff time so that all planned service and customer activities are attended to during the course of the shift
  • Maintain a good standard of records as required at the project under the direction of the Managers
  • Engaging in learning and development activity to increase knowledge and skills
  • Ensure Look Ahead Health and Safety policies and local protocols are adhered to at all times, to ensure the safety of the customers and premises including responding to maintenance, fire and health and safety issues
  • Attend and participate in team meetings and managers meetings
  • Some rota management including use of Payroll Extra and PSA timesheets
  • Competent use of relevant systems, company policies and frameworks
  • Adhere to all the policies and procedures of Look Ahead Care, Support & Housing plus those specific to the project including any statutory requirements
  • Carry out other duties commensurate with the designated role level, as may be deemed reasonable by Look Ahead including working at an alternative patch, if such a need arises

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:


Essential:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working people with high complex needs.


Desirable:

  • Other relevant professional memberships and/or specialist qualifications
