About This Role

The Technical Solution Team (Wholesale) is part of the Client Services Directorate in Enterprise Services. The function of the team is to provide Architectural Leadership and E2E Solution Design for Enterprise Managed Services Bids as well as Technical Design Authority (TDA) for major In-Life contracts. The team also leads on key new service incubation and capability development projects. This includes managing novel Proof of Concepts, Trial scoping and design.

In the bids space the team provides the Interface into the Technology organisation for technical and operational sign-off and is accountable for the E2E solution including deliverability and cost model.

The team supports an annual bid pipeline revenue value in excess of £500m+ relating to opportunities within the Wholesale customer base as well as £100-200m in projected market values for the PoCs.

You’ll Have The Following Responsibilities
  • To provide technical/professional leadership for PSTN Replacment solutions within the Wholesale Technical Solution Design Team
  • To provide technical Architecture and Solution Design as part of a proposition development or bid response in conjunction with bid teams and commercial analysts
  • Accountable for the costing of solutions as input to bids and contracts led from Professional Services
  • To provide high level delivery plan as part of the solution design covering technical solution delivery post BAFO stage and contract signature
  • Ensuring that Solution Design for Non Standard & Complex bids can be successfully delivered against BT Emterprise, BT Technology or 3rd Party capabilities
  • To co-ordinate and where necessary lead the negotiation with external & internal clients and provide on-going evaluation of potential opportunities
  • To identify risks and opportunities and estimate the cost impact.
  • Accountable for managing and mitigating Technology Risks created in the bid phase
  • To build internal, external and third party supplier relationships to ensure full commitment and support.
  • To manage/influnce senior stakeholders at Director and MD level via effective and regular reporting on key complex deals and projects
  • Responsible for creating repeatable solutions & propositions to optimize re-use of technical resources and capabilities
  • To engage when necessary SME’s across BT Technology to support the WNB or C2M processes.
  • Accountable for organising and managing trials of new technology with the full support of BT Technology, existing and new vendors and Enterprise Managed Services teams
You’ll Have The Following Skills & Experience
  • Expert knowledge of existing PSTN legacy and future IP Replacement solutions incorporating new technologies like NB-IoT and LoRaWAN
  • Recognised Expert for IP networking with relevant vendor accreditation
  • A foundation knowledge of indoor/outdoor 2/4/5G Mobile networks with the ability for hands-on self-learning
  • A comprehensive knowledge of several technology areas within the Techncial Design function and how they interact with each other to achieve functional and business objectives.
  • Understanding and comprehension of the Wholesale regulatory environment
  • Ability and willingness to study and research a new subject matter area
  • Provide strategic direction/vision across a particular Wholesale Technical Solution function (e.g. PSTN Migration solutions using Wholsale IP products in combination with innovative Mobile solutions)
  • Create formal networks with key decision makers internally and be an influential player for own area externally
  • Is a lead contributor individually and as a team member
  • Applies knowledge/skills through handling complex problems and/or co-ordinating work which may extend beyond own area of expertise
  • Anticipates client needs, investigates the underlying causes and identifies short and long term solutions.
  • Manages costs and profitability for a work area and/or large projects.
  • Generates new and innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Develops plans for work activities in own area over the medium/long term.
  • Able to influence at a senior level
  • Able to present a complex solution with real conviction and clarity
