ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Solicitorspecialising in residential conveyancing and/or mixed commercial property transactions, you will be expected to advise both borrowers and lender clients on all aspects of the buying and selling process, including bridging loans, buy-to-let, commercial and development, legal issues, finances and contracts and as more particularly described below.

Our Lender Finance Team is a very busy, fast paced practice and the successful candidate would be joining a friendly & supportive team who all pitch in together.

This role also has a manager aspect to it. As a Lender Manager, you will be expected to lead a lending team which currently consists of Solicitors, Conveyancing Assistants and Paralegals and further details on what this entails are below. The role brings with it the possibility of career progression at a forward thinking and progressive firm.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Handling files both freehold and leasehold from initial instruction through to completion having ensured that all enquiries have been dealt with, title issues have been accurately resolved, all searches carried out and checked and mortgage conditions satisfied;
  • Title checking;
  • Acting as sounding board for more junior solicitors and handling more complex transactions;
  • Preparation of contracts and supporting documents;
  • Checking official copy documents;
  • Liaising with clients, clients’ agents, borrowers, asset managers, buyers’ solicitors, internal departments and any other as necessary;
  • Dealing with post completion issues and ensuring post-completion is concluded accurately;
  • Using case management systems on a day-to-day basis; and
  • Handle client billing and ensure all billing is accurate and timely.

Lender Manager Responsibilities

  • Ensure other fee earners on your team are maintaining their files in accordance with the Firm’s standards
  • Approve absences and manage absences in general for the team ensuring appropriate coverage at all times
  • Reviewing KPIs of team members and discussing as necessary with regards to targets being met or not being met with Head of Department and assisting Head of Department, as necessary
  • Helping to raise the firm’s profile by attending marketing events, promoting the firm via social media and help the department in identifying client prospects
  • Being the direct point of contact with lender client and managing that relationship
  • Work with head of department and HR as necessary on any employee related matters
  • Work with Ethics & Compliance on any client complaints and deal as necessary
  • Allocate work within the department as necessary and monitor work flows
  • Responsibility for performance reviews for entire team and conducting 1-1 meetings regularly in order to support an open and honest working environment

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with leasehold properties and corporate clients is necessary
  • Experience in commercial property transactions is a plus
  • Past experience in managing a team is necessary
  • Able to work under pressure maintaining attention to detail and meet tight deadlines
  • Proactive with commercial and financial awareness
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills at all levels and a true team ethos

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ PQE and experience in residential conveyancing or commercial property is necessary
