Senior Social Worker (2) (16/283/984)

Dumfries

£44,055 - £47,451

The Out of Hours Social Work Team is a busy team who works with colleagues across the integrated health and social care partnership to better meet the needs of individuals living in Dumfries and Galloway.

The out of hours service operates during evenings, weekends, and public holiday periods. Therefore, this post offers additional financial enhancements.

We are looking for a Senior Social Worker with a minimum of three years post-qualifying experience and the energy and enthusiasm to make a significant contribution to the work of the team. Supervisory experience is desirable.

You will be a self-motivated, dynamic individual who is committed to promoting and ensuring that the individuals we are supporting remain the focus of the team’s work.

You will have the skills to initiate and develop effective working relationships with colleagues and other agencies and contribute to the development of services for individuals in the local area. You must have the ability to work autonomously under pressure and be committed to evidence-based practice. You will take ownership for your own learning and development, identifying any unmet training needs. You will receive good support and regular supervision.

This is an ideal opportunity to gain first-line managerial experience within a very busy and challenging yet stimulating and supportive environment.

A DipSW/CQSW/CSS qualification or equivalent is essential as is SSSC registration.

A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a licence, consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.

For further information please contact Caroline Ronaldson, Interim Locality Manager on 030 33 33 3001.
