We are seeking a full time Senior Research Manager for a newly awarded national interdisciplinary research programme. The post is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and is fixed-term for up to 5 years. Part-time at 30 hours per week would be considered for this post - please specify in your application.
The specific role of the person appointed will be to ensure the efficient project management of the programme. This includes delivering the operational activities linked to the research objectives of each programme, as well as helping to develop and sustain future research programmes. The role reports to the Principal Investigator, Professor Eleanor Stride. You will be responsible for financial management, supporting recruitment and personnel management, arranging and participating in meetings/events with partners and funders and maintaining the digital profile of the programme through web/social media. The role will involve working with key individuals from the participating Universities, other academic institutions including clinical facilities, industry and public health partner organisations, technology transfer offices and funding agencies(s). The post holder will ensure the project is delivered successfully to time/budget, and administrative aspects are completed to the satisfaction of the department and funder.
You should possess a University degree or have equivalent qualifications/experience. You should have experience of administration or project management in a research environment, public sector environment or other large complex organization, including experience of financial management. You should have excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to use tact and discretion to build effective and cooperative working relationships with colleagues at all levels. Excellent oral, written communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills are essential for this role, as well as proficiency in the use of IT.
