The Blavatnik School of Government seeks to improve the lives of citizens around the world – by improving public leadership. We need a highly organised, analytical and flexible Academic Planning Manager able to translate strategic aims into well-defined plans and motivate a team to deliver excellent results.
Can you take strategic aims and translate those into operationally deliverable plans that command the confidence of those around you? Are your project management skills first rate? Are you skilled in analysing and deploying data? Do you put the end user experience – for the School’s students, and the faculty who teach them – first and ensure the experience is excellent in all respects, from big picture to intricate detail? Can you motivate a team and are you able to respond flexibly to changing priorities and unforeseen challenges? If so, we want to hear from you.
We are seeking someone who can take broad strategic aims and early ideas, rapidly grasping nuanced and contextual information, to develop operational plans for the Master of Public Policy (MPP). The post holder will be an experienced manager and will need to be able to inspire and lead colleagues, including staff who are not line managed by this post. You will need to establish shared priorities, realistic timescales and clear direction and ownership for a complex range of tasks that will determine the success of the plans and their implementation by the team members responsible for in-term delivery.
You will project manage the operational planning of the MPP, with a planning horizon of 1-2 terms ahead and, where possible, the subsequent academic year; and project manage the preparation of each term’s programme support. You will successfully manage the input of a large number of faculty and staff teams and you will establish proportionate project management approaches and tools to track progress, identify issues early and escalate appropriately.
You will have significant experience developing and managing programmes and projects; excellent analytical skills and proven ability to use data, insight and feedback to drive programme planning, improvements and new insight. A flexible approach to working hours will be required as post-holders may be asked to work outside normal office hours on occasion in connection with key points in the academic cycle. You will have excellent team and line management skills and highly effective interpersonal skills.
Further details for this position, including information on how to apply, are outlined in the job description.
The closing date for applications is midday (UK time) on Monday 5 July 2021.
We plan to hold first round interviews on 16 July 2021 and second round interviews in the afternoon of 21 or 22 July.
