We are working exclusively in partnership with a global business who deliver large turnkey engineering process plant projects for the distillery, brewery, food and pharmaceutical markets. The business employs over 300 staff across their operations and integrate projects from design through equipment procurement to installation and commissioning of projects at customer sites.

The business has experienced incredible growth growing from £25 million six years ago to now delivering in excess of £100 million of projects as they continue to grow the portfolio and exciting turnkey projects they are delivering.

The business are experiencing incredible demand in Northern Scotland with demand for projects in the distillery sector expanding rapidly. As a result of this the business have established a specific project office in Forres to support this demand. They are looking to recruit a Senior Project Engineer to join this growing Forres team with immediate effect.


The Role

The Senior Project Engineer will carry out a wide variety of tasks to drive the delivery of all mechanical aspects on projects from equipment selection through to overseeing site installation and commissioning. You will be primarily focussed on distillery projects in the Forres region.

Key duties of the Senior Project Engineer will involve:

  • Producing equipment specifications for mechanical equipment required for projects – valves, pumps, pipework, heat exchangers and any other mechanical equipment required for the project.
  • Providing specifications to suppliers for quotations.
  • Carrying out technical and cost comparisons on supplier bids to select the most fit for purpose supplier.
  • Managing the progress of supplier delivery or equipment to ensure delivery dates will meet requirements for site installation.
  • Advising on any amendments needed mechanical design layouts during projects to ensure they are fit for purpose.
  • Ensuring equipment delivered to site as per specification.
  • Overseeing the site installation to ensure the equipment is being installed as per site plan.
  • Offer any technical support required during this process.
  • Carry out commissioning once equipment is installed to ensure it is performing correctly.


The Candidate

For this Senior Project Engineer role we are looking for someone with:

  • An engineering qualification.
  • Experience in a project engineering related role
  • Experience in projects related to process plant type equipment (i.e pipework, pumps, valves, vessels)
  • Someone ambitious to develop their career in a rapidly expanding business.
  • A desire to progress – the company can support people towards chartered status
  • An interest in supporting and mentoring others
