Job Summary

The Senior Manager of PPI Business Systems is responsible for the implementation of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s PPI (Practical Process Improvement) Business System and supporting business transformations.

The role is working within our Drug Product EU (DP EU) Division. You’ll work closely with business leadership to establish and mature the Lean Management System, use your leadership experience, operational skills and coaching tools to facilitate the cultural transformation to achieve site goals and objectives.

The successful candidate for this position will ideally be based in mainland Europe within 1-hour commute of one of our manufacturing sites. Due to the role covering sites across Europe, there is a travel expectation for this role up to 75%.

What will you do?
  • Strategy Deployment: Work with the site leadership team to identify and deploy transformational opportunities to improve the business.
  • Site Engagement: Diplomatically cultivate an action-biased culture of continuous improvement through a PPI Mindset to improve KPIs, in the areas of customer, finance, people and quality.
  • Developing Talent: Provide support to develop lean expertise and capability within the organization at all levels.
  • PPI Business System: Provide ongoing Lean Sigma support to multiple teams. Work alongside the expanded team to develop/promote/standardize the Business System further.
  • Best Practice transfer: Identifying and sharing of best practice across DP Eu with hands on implementation where needed. Where this does not exist within the business unit, then exploring solutions across the wider company and outside the company would be expected
  • Program Development and Execution – Develop PPI Programs to support the business as required. Monitor progress of program, improvement efforts and develop plans to address shortcomings.
  • Program Management – Actively support the PPI programs within the DP Eu areas of responsibility, driving to committed results. Provides status updates and reporting on the results of the PPI initiatives and identifies any potential obstacles that may require site or functional leadership interventions.

Education/Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, operations or business, with evidence of operational, leadership, or professional experience. Master’s degree preferred.
  • A Lean Expert with significant experience and a ‘hands-on’ track record of implementing successful business systems including elements such as:
    • TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and OEE Specialisation to ensure appropriate introduction of the TPM methods
    • Strategy Deployment and Value-stream mapping
    • Lean Leadership (Daily Management, Leader Standard Work, and Gemba Walks)
    • Kaizen events on standard work, cell design, process and product 3P, Value-Analysis/Value Engineering, error-proofing, material flow, Heijunka, and Kanban.
    • Expertise in problem-solving utilizing a formal program/process
  • Consistent track record of identifying and delivering year-over-year results using metric-driven problem solving.
  • Passion for developing, training, and coaching teams.
