Senior Platform Engineer

We are hiring people who consider themselves to be cloud or devops engineers to join our Team and help to deliver Platforms as part of an innovative sector in the North West. We are always looking for good people; we are ready to go when you are.

We strongly encourage candidates of all different backgrounds and identities to apply. Every time someone joins the company, there is an opportunity for us to bring in a different perspective. We are always eager to continue to diversify our company. We are committed to building an inclusive, supportive place for you to do the best and most fulfilling work of your career.

ABOUT THE JOB

You will be joining a team already producing innovative work within the National Security, Intelligence and Law Enforcement sectors. Our teams are efficient (Naimuri means no waste).

As a member of the Platforms team you will be supporting the wider company by providing expertise in Cloud Engineering and operating with DevSecOps best practice. This can mean providing guidance on designs, or producing designs, for Cloud infrastructure that is secure by design. Supporting development teams in how to operate CI/CD pipelines, as well as the ‘where’ and the ‘how’ the resulting workloads will run.

It can mean shaping and building core infrastructure pieces that allow the company to function, such as a VPN. In short we support development teams, the company, and customers in how to use the Cloud effectively.

The role requires defining best practices in these areas outwards of the team, as well as outwards of the company. Continually learning and then distilling that knowledge into reusable components, documentation, and guides.

You will need to be a self-starter, and be able to challenge existing knowledge and ideas. You will have experience in cloud technologies, containers and their orchestration, continuous integration and deployment and the DevOps lifecycle.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Platform Team is a multi-skilled team working across a wide range of projects at Naimuri to provide consultancy of Cloud Platform and DevSecOps best practises. With our plans to continuously grow the team there is plenty of opportunity for you to progress, whether this be into leadership or a higher technical role.

A large portion of the role will be participating in design sessions with the whole team.

ABOUT YOU

You may have a degree that may be in a related field. You might not and can demonstrate how you have trodden the path for yourself.

We would expect you to have experience in the core skills. However items listed on the general skills are nice to have. They are things that are likely to be used in the role and it is advised that you should have opinions on several of them.

Core skills:
Cloud experience (AWS/Azure/GCP)

IaC (Terraform or provider specific tooling)

General skills:
Git (and the workflows associated);

CI/CD - building pipelines for development and release;

Kubernetes or other container orchestration tools;

Containers (knowledge of building, maintaining, and running);

Configuration automation (e.g. Ansible);

Bash and Linux system administration in a Cloud Environment;

Python or similar (for building “glue” functionality e.g. lambdas);

Working as part of Agile teams;

Able to challenge designs and speak up;

Explaining complex issues to technical and non-technical people;

System support (L3/4 only);

Above all else, we look for people with the right attitude and tenacity to continually improve themselves. You’ll have the freedom and autonomy to do your best work, with plenty of support along the way.

ABOUT US

Our offices are in Media City, with the option to work from home some of the time. Most of the company works from the Salford office on a regular basis. We work collaboratively so it is good to be in Salford at least a few days per month. We are lean with a high ratio of ‘do-ers’. You’ll need to be able work as part of a team whilst taking ownership of your own tasks.

Our values, which have been set by our people not the management, are Integrity, Accountability, Pride and Passion, Courage, Ambition and Initiative, Collaboration, and Caring.

Everyone has a voice at Naimuri, we are always keen to hear yours. We continue to grow and are always looking at ways to improve how we share, operate, communicate, and learn together. We actively impact technical innovation within the Security and Intelligence sector, based in the Northwest.

PAY AND BENEFITS

Naimuri pays competitively within the industry based on Northwest rates. The salary for this position is dependent upon your experience and is relative to our current people.

It is vital to us that all our people are remunerated fairly, ensuring everyone feels valued. We assess seniority relative to the team at Naimuri during the interviewing process.

We expect you to work 37.5 hours per week, and you have flexibility over when you give that time within our core hours (between 10:00 and 16:00). Our office is open between 7:30 and 18:30 Monday to Friday. We do not want you working excessive hours, which is simply not sustainable. Be ready for work by allowing yourself the time to get your life sorted however you see fit. This role requires attendance at standups daily at 09:15. On successful completion of your probation you will get access to health insurance, our company bonus scheme, a generous pension, and the Bike2Work scheme.

HOW TO APPLY

Please send your application in the first instance to Craig.watson@naimuri.com or Ian.wilson@naimuri.com .

We invest a lot of time and effort into the recruitment process as the quality of who we hire determines the future of our company. We’re giving you our full attention.

We will respond to your initial application within two working days. A dedicated team will review your application and you’ll hear from us within five working days as to whether you’ve advanced to the telephone interview stage. Following the telephone interview, we will send you a technical challenge to assist our teams during the technical interview. Our interviews are one hour, in our office or on Google Meet. These sessions will be with your future colleagues. As well as technical questions we will also interview against our company values.

We look forward to hearing from you!
