Role Purpose

Provide Engineering advice and leadership for all matters relating to Business Development, Bidding, Solution Development, Engineering and Delivery for Maritime programmes.

To ensure that the knowledge base and associated technical and engineering skills for Maritime Systems are driven forward in accordance with the Business needs.

To provide vision and direction at strategic and local level and to oversee technical and engineering work and delivery within Maritime Systems.

To undertake theoretical and practical technical work in support of business programmes, ensuring optimum technical, engineering, quality, health and safety, operational and financial performance.

What will I be doing?

Provide effective leadership and coordination of the Technical and Engineering activities to meet the requirements of the Business.

Understand customer requirements and future technology developments in order to lead the business in developing strategies for new capabilities and areas for business growth.

Technical assurance of customer deliverables against clear standards and providing feedback to authors as required.

Ensuring technical and engineering staff are adequately trained, mentored and developed.

Support the Engineering Director in the continued development of the Maritime Technical and Engineering Strategy.

What do I need?

Understanding of the Maritime Customer and Competitor environment including its strengths and weaknesses and has the vision to translate that into viable opportunities based on QinetiQ strengths.

Up to date and knowledgeable on the latest developments in the Maritime domain.

A good communicator, inspiring leader, with an aptitude for people management.

Experience of leading technical delivery of significant supply side and product development (including hardware and software) opportunities.

Experience in delivering Combat Management and Systems integration onto UK Maritime platforms.

Chartered or equivalent status in a relevant technical field.
