Job OverviewAre you a highly motivated, professional nurse, looking to progress your career?Have you got significant experience at Band 7 or above?An exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse leader has arisen within the Women and Children’s Directorate leadership team. Following the retirement of the current post holder, this position supports the leadership of the specialist Neonatal team across the South West Wales region.The successful applicant will provide strong clinical leadership and be a professional role model to nursing staff at all levels. Your role will be to manage staff and resources within the health board Neonatal service, ensuring care is delivered in a safe, effective manner, ensuring the use of current evidence-based practice and while promoting the values of the Health Board.Hywel Dda University Health Board has a relocation policy for successful applicants wishing to move to the area. Applicants must meet the criteria to be eligible which can be found in the Relocation Policy.Main duties of the jobReporting directly to the Service Delivery Manager for Neonates (and being professionally accountable to the Directorate Nurse), you will be expected to work autonomously, but in close liaison with the Neonatal joint clinical leads. You will apply your highly specialized knowledge to lead the operational team, and to strategically support the directorate leadership team in the delivery of high-quality neonatal care.Working closely with members of the multi-disciplinary team and other agencies involved in the delivery of neonatal care, you will ensure an integrated approach between nursing and medical staff and inter-departmental teams is maintained.Other responsibilities include:- Leading and overseeing training and education needs within the service.
- Ensuring the development and provision of competency-based training close to point of care.
- Responsibility for leading specific neonatal nursing practice development work across the Women and Children’s Directorate
- Prioritisation of professional and service modernization and development
- Work to improve the patient experience for all infants and their families /carers of Hywel Dda University Health Board.
- Welsh Neonatal Representation
- Various subgroups representation
- Working in partnership with Swansea Bay UHB Neonatal services
- Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;
- Seven community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
- 48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
- Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;
- Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales
