Trafford Thrive in Education (MHST) is an expanding school-based service to support young people’s mental health.We are excited to recruit a Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join Trafford Thrive in Education team (Mental Health Support Team ) on a full time (or equivalent) permanent contract.Trafford Thrive In Education Teams has three core functions:-
  • Delivering evidence-based interventions for mild to moderate mental health presentations
  • Supporting the mental health leads in each school/college to support a whole school approach to wellbeing and mental health.
  • Providing timely advice and guidance to school/education staff and liaising with specialist services to support children and young people to receive effective support to remain in education.
The team work in several educational settings in Trafford, and are planning to expand into FE colleges, to develop and provide preventive and early help support to meet the needs of students experiencing low intensity mental health issues, reaching children and young people at the earliest stages possible.The team consists of a Service Lead, as well as senior clinicians, supervisors, Education Mental Health Practitioner’s, Mental Health Practitioners and administrative support. We would love a Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our committed and dedicated team to enable further service developments and increase the team’s capacity.The post holder will have a range of skills and knowledge to deliver clinical aspects of the role in education settings and offer clinical oversight, leadership and supervision to the team.You will be competent to work as an autonomous practitioner within professional practice guidelines and a structured supervision framework. You will have specialist working knowledge of the range of mental health difficulties in children and adolescents, and supervisory experience.Managing a caseload within CAMHS Thrive In Education Team, the post holder will provide a range of high quality care appropriate to the child or young person’s needs as well as providing consultation to schools and colleges.The promotion of mental health and wellbeing within education settings is an essential element of this role, ensuring whole school/college approaches to mental health are established and ensuring effective partnership working across agencies to ensure young people’s needs are appropriately met.You will work closely with, and deputise for, the MHST Service Lead to ensure the team fulfils its core offer of services and delivers on key performance targets and be involved with the collating and analysing or data and reports as required. The post-holder will be expected to champion quality and service improvement along with supporting transformational change and motivate colleagues to work together to deliver success, achieve the best outcomes and measure the benefits of the project.MFT is England’s largest NHS Trust with a turnover of £2.5bn & is on a different scale than most other NHS Trusts.
