Senior Mechanical Engineer - Packages

Overview:

This role will be responsible for mechanical static equipment on major upstream, refinery, petrochemical or energy transition projects located in both domestic and international markets. Projects based can be based at multiple overseas locations and in the UK.

Job scope:

Prepare and review engineering procedures and standards.

Coordination and checking of:
  • Discipline basis of design
  • Discipline Specifications
  • Data sheets and requisitions,
  • Technical bid evaluations,
  • Detailed mechanical drawings.

Provide technical recommendations on the selection of equipment to meet Project requirements.

Undertake engineering design in static and packaged equipment in the following: Towers, Vessels, Slug catcher, separation vessels, desalter packages, dehydration packages, stabilizer column, pig launcher and common types of heat exchangers.

Check and review vendor proposals, documentation and drawings.

Participate in project, client and vendor meetings.

Provide Input to Construction Subcontract and evaluate bids.

Travel in the UK and overseas for meetings, equipment testing and site technical support to meet Project requirements.

Background and experience required:
  • We are seeking motivated, creative, quality driven applicants with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, or an HNC with extensive experience or, if without Degree or charter, applicable experience must be clearly demonstrated.
  • Previous experience as a team member in major projects in the Petrochemical and related industries.
  • Familiarity with European, American, and International standards applicable to the petrochemical industry.
  • Knowledge of with and packaged equipment, including: Slug catchers, separation vessels, desalter packages, dehydration packages, stabilizer column, pig launcher and common types of heat exchangers.
  • A broad background in mechanical equipment design and or specification including vessels, heat exchangers and packaged equipment is required to supplement specialist technical experience and knowledge in one of these fields.
  • Candidates must also have a working knowledge of recognized industry codes and standards along with exposure to materials of construction, welding and NDE fundamentals. A strong background in writing technical specifications, preparing design calculations, studies, requisitions, technical bid evaluations and performing vendor document reviews is required.
  • Software knowledge should include Microsoft Office applications and static equipment design software, such as PVElite, Compress or Finglow. Familiarity with HTRI would be beneficial.
