Job Profile

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer required for my client based near to Warrington.

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for performing conceptual, modelling and detailed design of mechanical and automated manipulation and positioning systems.The position will be helping the company expand and explore growth opportunities within the industry by leading the mechanical design of innovative products and bespoke customer solutions.

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer works from the Company’s office near to Warrington and reports directly to the R&D Manager.

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Position Overview
  • Create and refine technical part and assembly drawings to capture design intent and document key aspects necessary for manufacturing using 3D CAD.
  • Produce conceptual designs to support proposals and quotations, developing new custom solutions to meet clients’ needs.
  • Lead design reviews to explore concepts and identify risks.
  • Identify and support value engineering projects.
  • Create and maintain bill of materials for multiple projects.
  • Identify and source components and suppliers.
  • Plan method and sequence of operations for developing and testing mechanical components and test fixtures.
  • Collaborate with other engineers, technicians and administrative personnel to accomplish product and project goals.
  • Perform analysis of tolerances, stress / strain and statics.
  • Mentor two mechanical design engineers.
  • Lead the engineering department in the absence of the manager.
  • Produce documentation required for product operation and maintenance manuals.
  • Operate and maintain records in accordance with Quality Management Systems and document management systems.
  • Conduct failure analyses of prematurely worn components / systems; recommend and implement corrective actions.
  • Support sales with technical assistance and design for approved special products.
Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Position Requirements
  • 10-15 years of design experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer.
  • BS / MS in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of 3D CAD modelling experience (Inventor preferred).
  • Experience with analytical instrumentation is required.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and materials science.
  • Basic knowledge of experimental testing, electronics, assembly, statistics and quality.
  • Understanding of production and manufacturing methods to include soldering, adhesive bonding, welding, machining, stamping, moulding and metal forming.
  • Familiarity with product certifications.
  • Experience with creating detailed engineering drawings.
  • Hands on experience in manufacturing.
  • Manage multiple projects at one time and adhere to project schedules.
  • Full UK Driving License and be based commutable distance of Warrington.
Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Position Remuneration
  • Annual Base Salary - dependent on experience - £47,000 to £52,000.
  • Full time position - Monday to Friday.
  • 20 days of holiday per annum plus the 8 statutory bank holiday days.
  • Company Pension Scheme.
