Vacancy Description

Are you a criminal or civil advocate looking for a change?

The Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead is creating a new inhouse legal service. We are looking for a lawyer with expertise in conducting enforcement, criminal and civil litigation, whether prosecuting or defending proceedings. You must be a strong team player and prepared to go that extra mile when required. You must be able to forge effective relationships with Councillors, officers and the public. The role will involve undertaking advocacy in tribunals and the criminal and civil courts. You must be capable of conducting a variety of matters in your caseload, and have excellent drafting skills.

You must be a barrister or solicitor, preferably with Higher Rights. This role would suit someone with strong experience in the Criminal Courts as either a Defence or Prosecution Advocate and looking to transfer their skills from Private Practice or another part of the Public Sector, ideally local government.

A willingness to undertake civil litigation, especially in relation to injunctive relief and judicial review, is essential for the role.

You must be a self starter, have a ‘can-do’ approach and be able to get the job done. Attendance at court, tribunals and panels, whether remotely or in person, is a necessity for the role, so the post will not suit someone looking to work remotely permanently.

Please contact Anthony Lenaghan at or 07956 915 997 for further details.
