We have a new opportunity for a Senior Finance Analyst to join our Group Finance team on a permanent basis here at Penguin Random House UK. This role will be based at our new Embassy Gardens office in Nine Elms.

Positioned within the Group Financial Planning and Analysis team, this role will be responsible for a wide range of areas, ranging from risk management and cash flow reporting to preparing insightful analysis to help with decision-making during customer negotiations.

As Senior Finance Analyst, your other key responsibilities will include:

  • Risk management and reporting: Working with business stakeholders to ensure all risks are captured, monitored and that there are appropriate controls in place. This is done via a risk reporting tool and involves liaison with Penguin Random House Global and parent company Bertelsmann.
  • Robust and reliable financial modeling to assess an appropriate level of intercompany trading terms.
  • Preparation of annual insurance renewal documentation and contributing to ensuring coverage is appropriate to help manage company risks.
  • Preparation of cash flow forecasting with a strong understanding of actual reporting and variances to expectations and prior year.
  • Further developing Group balance sheet reporting and taking an active role in understanding all balance sheet drivers and providing explanations to local management and parent companies.
  • Calculating bonus pay-outs and working with HR and the business to ensure correct calculations for employee bonus payments.
  • Responsible for bad debt provisioning calculation on a monthly basis and being involved in credit risk discussions.
  • Maintenance of the Sales promotional tracker in Anaplan and working with the Anaplan developer within the FP&A team to drive the development of the system to meet reporting and analysis needs.
  • Ensuring that promotional spend is accurately recorded, controlled and assessed for effectiveness.
  • Liaison with US parent company in relation to weekly reporting for cash flow, rolling forecast, capex and sales data.

The successful candidate will have excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and a good commercial outlook. You’ll be able to convey complex financial information to non-finance colleagues and partners across the business and will be a fast learner of new IT systems and processes. Previous exposure to SAP, Anaplan, Business Objects or Power BI will be beneficial, alongside being an expert user of MS Excel.

You’ll be proactive, structured and disciplined in your approach to work and will find the challenge of taking on ad hoc projects interesting. Excellent attention to detail, communication and relationship building will be key. Ideally you will be part qualified (CIMA / ACCA / ACA).

To apply for this position please submit a CV and Cover Letter by midnight on Tuesday 7th September 2021.

Salary:
£35,000 - £40,000 depending on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus bonus and benefits.
