Job ProfileSenior Estimator - required for our client to join their well-established team near to Basingstoke. Our client are specialists within the Civil Engineering industry and provide minor works on Railway owned infrastructure. Works normally involve the upgrades of railway structures including bridges, tunnels, viaducts and earthworks.This Estimator is required to lead and manage the bid management. Ensuring processes are followed, bid / no bid decisions are taken, and competitive, profitable bids submitted and within the Reactive and Planned Maintenance contracts within the Rail industry.It is expected that the successful candidate will provide excellent assistance throughout the reactive maintenance and planned preventative maintenance works projects. Project values will range around the quarter of a million-pound working on some long-term frameworks.Senior Estimator Position Overview
  • Tender pipeline in the medium/short term
  • Manage the central library of supporting information for bids and the Bidding process overall.
  • Lead Bids, developing and implementing winning bid strategies and providing the engineering and operations team with the support they need to develop winning proposals.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to Project teams on submitting successful technical supporting information.
  • Work closely with the Bid and Project teams to understand customer drivers and develop winning strategies for bids.
  • Ensure tenders are evaluated and tender action plans prepared in line with the Bid strategy, estimating guidelines and directives on margin and cost and are submitted to deadlines.
  • Coordinate the team to work in collaboration with colleagues from across the business preparing and submitting accurately costed and competitive bids.
Senior Estimator Position Requirements
  • Higher level (HNC or Degree) qualification in Quantity Surveying or Engineering.
  • At least 5-10 years commercial experience
  • Involvement in infrastructure projects in the construction industry, ideally in Rail.
  • A team player
  • Experienced in leading and developing a diverse team including managing performance and skills development
  • Previous experience in a senior level Estimator role
  • Holds a full UK driving licence
Senior Estimator Position Remuneration
  • Salary up to £65K
  • 5% Pension contribution 4% employee
  • Discretionary Bonus
  • Holidays - 28 days which includes Bank Holidays rising to 33
