We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our NWY Buildings Group as part of the team delivering our UKIMEA Digital and Automation programme.

The role will support the development, maintenance and support of project and client facing tools and services for our UK Building Engineering sector. These tools will create use case wrappers for our developing global project data and design automation platforms.

You will be working in a small, geographically dispersed, agile development team with colleagues of various digital skills, including UX design, frontend & backend development and software architecture. You will be integrated into the Buildings business and will report to the Buildings UK digital team leaders. You will also be expected to work closely with our software development leadership across the business to drive consistency in development practice, knowledge sharing mentoring and staff development.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Responsible for designing, developing and supporting high quality software as part of an agile team.

  • You will be accountable for significant and complex software development activities. This will require you to be responsible for predicting and planning your work and coordinating efforts with other team members.

  • You will take a longer term strategic view of the business and contribute to Arup’s digital development plan.

  • You will be responsible for the performance and development of others. This would require you to provide guidance, mentoring, training, motivation and direction to staff, some of which have developed through a hybrid route of building engineering and digital development.

  • You will work closely with Product Owner/s, Architects and delivery teams to build systems that drive towards Arup’s vision of improved productivity and differentiation of our service within the built environment.
