Role Purpose:

STL (Sterlite Technologies Ltd) are continuing to grow rapidly and to support the next stage of our growth in the United Kingdom we are recruiting for a dedicated Senior Deployment Manager.The role will be responsible for overseeing all construction work in the field, including the management of construction partners and suppliers to ensure compliance with the project build requirements and providing an appropriate level of quality assurance with the goal of a right first time build.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing partner performance and effectiveness in deployment, including placing primary focus on the quality of work and safe practices employed at all times. The services will be delivered through both in-house and multiple partnership agreements and so there will be a requirement to lead a team of civils and fibre supervisors responsible for the delivery of the network build programme to ensure monthly, quarterly, annual build and budget targets are achieved.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that Network Deployments are completed on time, within budget and are Quality and Safety compliant.

  • Managing several deployments, including the management of change notices through client processes or formal contract arrangement, e.g NEC or similar
  • Overseeing all construction work in the field, including the management of construction partners and suppliers to ensure compliance with project build requirements and providing an appropriate level of quality assurance with the goal of a right first time build.
  • Monitor Health & Safety and Quality Audit data, to drive a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and monitor build programmes for client submission.
  • Oversee scheduling of accredited resources. Liaising with internal departments, such as Network Design, PMO, Supply chain and Operational teams in order to optimise the delivery for an economical build programme.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with client, owners, supply chain and suppliers on all assigned projects. Attend progress meetings and provide support in the effective management of supply chain performance and reviews by chairing meetings to capture and ensure deliverables are achieved.
  • Work collaboratively with construction build partners to develop strong relationships and alignment to ensure mutual success.
  • Oversee the management of the supply of materials and equipment for the project.
  • Ensure the operational and commercial teams are completing the weekly joint site measures on each project and check the accuracy of the data.
  • Work with the commercial and operational teams, to achieve billing targets, monitor WIP and report the monthly WIP figures, deal with invoice queries from suppliers and clients.
  • Review training/accreditation requirements within your team, ensuring every member is compliant with their relevant position and duties.
  • Stakeholder management, working with councils, regulators, customers.
  • Overseeing NRSWA compliance, defect management and complaints/customer liaison. This will include, but limited to monitoring audit, quality and defect data, attending meetings and ensuring field based management system compliance.
  • Ensuring delivery lifecycle data and stage completions are logged with the Delivery and PMO functions, through the delivery system to allow seamless, real time communication to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Working with specialist teams on the negotiation of easements and wayleaves and ROW where necessary.
  • Managing risk aligned with the programme delivery. Strategy alignment, identifying synergies and share best practices to drive consistency, always challenging and driving improvement and innovation
  • Managing safety and building a strong safety ethic following IS45001 safety standard.
  • Compliance with ISO9001 process documentation for all core processes used within the Deployment engine.
  • Ensure all post installation documents are completed within the required timescales and checked in accordance with the conditions of the project, including test results and as-builts, photo evidence and premise data

Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years’ experience within a similar role in a major infrastructure/capital build programme.
  • Experience with outsourcing or sub-contracting services within the telecoms deployment industry.
  • Experience of building strong relationships with our contract partners and stakeholders
  • Senior functional management experience on FTTX/FTTH projects (Highly Desirable)
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction or building science (Desirable)
  • PMP, MICE or Prince 2 accreditation (Desirable)
  • Strong knowledge of physical infrastructure access (PIA)
  • Experience of managing micro-trenching and traditional dig type projects.
  • All round telecoms civils and fibre deployment experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of CDM & NRSWA regulations.
  • Management of Capex & Opex spend working closely with Finance team.
  • Experience in successful leadership of a team, with the ability to inspire and develop high performance.
  • High learning agility, adaptability and track record of exceptional results.
  • Determination to succeed in a new environment whilst building sustainable relations with our suppliers.
  • Experience using EPM, SAP, Ariba is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills.
  • Valid UK driving licence.
  • Competent within the use of Microsoft Office including MSP Project and Visio.
