Role description:

We are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor/ Senior Cost Consultant to join our Defence team and lead the commercial management function across various commissions.

You will have responsibility for delivering a scope of work in line with all pre & post contract stages of works, including use of cost models, investment appraisals, cost reporting and benchmarking data.

Role accountabilities:
  • Key member of the project delivery team, achieving objectives, delivering to performance targets and ensuring that cost team have the necessary skills to deliver the project objectives
  • Manage our relationship with the client to ensure satisfaction, meeting client objectives, managing pipeline and delivering account growth.
  • Lead the cost management activity across the works programme to ensure delivery standards meet expectations
  • Assure compliance with contracts in terms of programme delivery parameters and scope of service
  • Analyse and review complex information from a range of data sources including in order to identify how different options may impact project delivery and advise clients and internal stakeholders on potential implications
  • Develop cost management framework processes and policies and help lead the implementation of system improvements for own programmes, ensuring developments are in line with strategic business objectives
  • Manage relationships with key internal stakeholders in order to identify opportunities for improved efficiencies and collaboration between projects to ensure commercial viability and customer satisfaction
  • Act as a technical expert within the programme and associated projects, providing strategic advice to other managers, in order to support successful delivery in line with programme outcomes
  • Manage and build relationships with client project sponsors/stakeholders in order to ensure all parties are informed and aware of project progress and are aligned to meet objectives.
  • Assist in the coaching and development of other team members to share knowledge, increase team skill level and improve the standard of service delivery

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Relevant professional qualification or chartered status
  • Significant technical knowledge
  • Experience in (but not limited to) the Local Government, Central Government or Defence sectors
  • Experience using digital cost tools such as CostX, 5D BIM etc
  • Due to the nature of the projects you’ll be working on, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) is required. If you do not already have BPSS level clearance, you would need to be willing to go through this process.
