Job Title: Senior Construction Manager- Internal Precision Concrete slabs

Location: Blyth

Job Purpose

ISG have recently secured a £500m new build Battery Gigaplant project in Blyth, and this role will be to manage and co-ordinate the construction and logistical activities relating to the Internal Precision Concrete slab installations throughout the project. To deliver a quality service and product to our clients in line with the project goals by working with the project team and applying ISG culture, systems and procedures at all times. To work collaboratively and to develop excellent working relationships with all ISG Departments and external delivery partners.

KeyResponsibilities

Health, Safety & Environment

• To work closely with the Safety Department to uphold the very highest Health & Safety standards and practices and to instil safe working practices in all managers, operatives, professionals and visitors to the project.
• Conduct site inductions along with the checking of operative competencies and credentials.
• To walk the site regularly throughout the day to monitor safety of operations and environmental conditions.
• To review and appraise delivery Partner RAMS for suitability and compliance and to ensure that the works are undertaken in accordance.
• Preparation of RAMS for any direct labour.
• To implement the waste management plan and to ensure compliance by delivery partners at all times.
• Preparation of weekly site condition & safety reports.
• Undertake all required statutory inspections at the specified times.
• Management and issuing of permits to work for the relevant construction activities.
• Ensuring that all plant is regularly inspected by the relevant contractor and has the required certification.
• Ensure toolbox talks are given on the site in accordance with the toolbox talk plan.
• To undertake thorough reporting of all Health & Safety best practises and any incidents or accidents in accordance with ISG procedures.
• Regular reviews of the construction phase Health & Safety plan to ensure continuous relevance & compliance.
• Regular reviews and implementation of the fire and emergency plan to ensure continuous relevance.
• Ensuring site wide signage is maintained.
• Management of task specific dust suppression and environmental containment measures.
• Management and implementation of all environmental controls and monitoring of their effectiveness.
• Inspection and management of all temporary works

Construction Management & Delivery

• Work closely with the Senior Construction Manager & Technical Services Manager to ensure that the works are progressed in accordance with the programme.
• To work closely with the Health & Safety Manager and Delivery Partners in planning the
• To proactively identify and resolve problems and potential problems.
• Maintain a detailed daily site diary, including photographs, stored digitally within the project document management system.
• Utilising the appropriate ISG metrics, report on daily, weekly and monthly progress for the works within their scope.
• Identify areas of programme risk with the management team along with proposing containment solutions.
• Planning of all temporary works working closely with the temporary works coordinator.
• To proactively promote innovative construction methodology.
• Work with the senior Construction Manager, planner and project manager to produce short, medium and long-term programmes.
• Support the Commercial team, Senior Construction Manager & Project Manager to identify, record and manage any change to the scope of works.
• Contribute to and monitor the Fit-Out RFI schedule to ensure the effective management of information flow and change requests.
• To chair and minute Delivery Partner co-ordination meetings.
• Leadership of the daily activity briefing sessions each morning. Close each day out with the Delivery Partners to understand and document the achievements or failings.
• Regular reviews of drawings with the design team for buildability. Ensuring that the works on site conform.

Logistics and Waste Management

• Work with the onsite Logistics Partner to ensure the traffic management plan is continuously updated and kept relevant.
• Ensure that all pedestrian footpaths are maintained and segregated from plant & traffic.
• Conduct regular waste management reviews on Delivery Partners.
• Maintain the highest standards of housekeeping.

Quality

• Review the Quality plan on a monthly basis to ensure compliance with current project scope & requirements.
• Proactively promote and implement a “Right first time” Zero Defects culture.
• Using the relevant ISG tools and procedures, undertake snagging and defects inspections and ensure that all are closed out within the specified timescales.
• Raise and record quality concerns and issues with the relevant Delivery Partner

Experience & Skills

• A proven record of delivering high value, high volume, high quality Precision concrete slab installations on projects with significant logistical challenges is essential.
• Shows an aptitude for working collaboratively, effectively and efficiently with all project team members and Partners.
• Highly IT proficient. BIM experience would be advantageous.
• A firm understanding of Technical Designs for Precision Concrete installations
• Able to communicate effectively and frankly at all levels.
• Fully conversant with CDM and all relevant Health & Safety legislation. Demonstrable experience of successful implementation on major projects.
• Methodical and strategic thinking when planning large-scale Precision Concrete slab installations

Qualifications

• SMSTS, relevant CSCS card and first aid are mandatory.
• Construction related HND or Degree level qualification, preferably in Civil Engineering.

• Supplementary Construction related Health & Safety and Professional qualifications are an advantage.
