We are looking for an experienced Configuration and Document Management Engineer to join Airbus Defence and Space in Stevenage or Portsmouth. You will join the Configuration and Data Management (CADM) Team and report to our CADM Manager. You will be joining a growing team within the UK Secure Communications Business, working closely with Project Management and Engineering.

Ensure that the product configuration is fully controlled from definition to delivery and operations. Implement Configuration Management Methods, Processes and related Tools along the entire product lifecycle to ensure the availability and consistency of relevant data (i.e. requirements, design, manufacturing & service documentation, changes, deviations) and to ensure Product / Services configuration consistency

You will primarily be responsible to support and guide the Configuration and Data Management processes for the UK Secure Comms business to ensure compliance with company procedures. You will provide a quality service that maintains our projects and products’ integrity throughout their lifecycle, by collaborating and communicating recognised best practices in Configuration Management.

Eligibility for full UK SC Clearance is required to undertake this role.

How You Will Contribute To The Team

Ensure that the product and project configuration is fully controlled from definition to delivery and maintenance. Implement Configuration Management methods, processes within PDM tools along the entire product lifecycle to ensure the availability and consistency of relevant data (i.e. requirements, design, manufacturing & service documentation, changes, deviations).

  • Supporting project teams to establish and maintain the configuration records for a product with its requirements, from inception through design and development, to production, support and and beyond.
  • Applying the 5 key areas of Configuration Management: Planning, Identification,
  • Change Management, Status Accounting and Auditing.
  • Understanding Product Structures and Technical data packs – knowledge of PBS and BoMs and how they are developed, changed and baselined in controlled and consistent manager
  • CM Plan compliance and maintenance
  • Working with Change Management Boards and Maturity Gate Reviews
  • Handling all aspects of change control and delivery - internal/supplier/customer
  • Apply and support the document management governance policies by performing quality checks on documentation through relevant lifecycles ensuring an audit trail for changes.
  • Apply Configuration Management of Software.

About You

  • Working knowledge of Product Data Management (PDM) tools and Product Lifecycle
  • Management (PLM) Systems
  • Experience with processing documents through configuration systems and through a lifecycle
  • High attention to detail, meticulous and organised
  • Capable of understanding and interpreting technical data / drawings
  • Proficient IT skills across the MS Office and Google suite.
  • Knowledge of relevant configuration standards such as ISO 10007 and Def-Stan 05-057
  • Experience within Aerospace or Defence manufacturing industry desirable
  • Experience with PDM tools (Windchill)
  • Experience of Software applications such as ClearCase and ClearQuest or other similar
