Job title: Senior Commercial Manager MEP

Division: High-tech Manufacturing

Office location:Billingham (Site)

Role purpose

Responsibility for the commercial management of MEP & Clean Room aspect of a major project working closely with the wider project team, Project Director and Commercial Director.

Key Accountabilities
  • To take active responsibility for all commercial and financial procedures in conjunction with the Commercial Managers and Commercial Lead.
  • Procurement and recommendation of trade contractors, systems and manufacturers for internal and external approvals.
  • Manage all commercial and contractual aspects of MEP work packages during delivery phase and successful closeout.
  • Contribute and assist the Commercial Lead with the valuation process.
  • Preparation of Subcontract documentation and placement of orders.
  • Management of the change process in conjunction with the extended team
  • Attend and if necessary, chair meetings with the design consultants and Supply Chain.
  • Be responsible for the commercial performance of MEP packages including CVR reporting.
  • Accurate Cashflow forecasting, developing close relationships with Finance team.
  • Maximising Opportunity and minimising risk
Skills & Experience
  • Likely to be either MCIOB or RICS, with experience in major MEP works packages.
  • Major Project experience comfortable with project valued in excess of £100m
  • Experience in establishing, managing and leading a large project team and/or multiple smaller project team.
  • Experience of most forms of contract.
  • Relationships with clients/consultants and suppliers which will raise profile of the division and lead to new opportunities.
  • Experience in main contract and subcontract management.
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal and people management skills are essential.
  • Demonstrably commercially focused with a proven track record in
  • Allocation of risk and maximisation of profit in single stage fixed price procurement routes
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to understand the wider picture whilst devoting attention to detail.
  • Attitude: characterised by enthusiasm, commitment to personal and divisional success
  • Proactive, diligent, able and willing to think ahead
  • Ability to communicate positively and effectively
  • Structured approach: focused, thorough, high level of attention to detail
  • Commercial awareness: understanding and ability to make profit whilst retaining relationships and company values.
  • Commercially robust but fair in the settlement of subcontractor final accounts
Qualifications
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or Similar
