If your answers to these questions are yes, then this could be the perfect role for you!Here at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, we are inviting applications for an enthusiastic doctor to join us in a combined role of Senior Clinical Fellow in Critical Care Medicine and Chief Registrar. You will be based at Musgrove Park Hospital from August 2022 and the role is available for a fixed-term period of 12 months.You will have ideally completed at least one year of ST2 grade or equivalent level training in either Intensive Care Medicine or Anaesthesia, and have an interest in Critical Care Medicine, with a strong desire to develop your leadership and quality improvement portfolio.You will take part in a full Critical Care Medicine on-call registrar rota with protected time for the role of Chief Registrar. As Chief Registrar there will be opportunity to develop leadership skills and quality improvement projects, whilst being supported by a bespoke 10-month development programme designed and delivered by the Royal College of Physicians.Main duties of the jobThe Critical Care department at Musgrove Park Hospital is a 16-bed unit, treating a mix of medical and surgical specialties, including major vascular, spinal, and general cases.Musgrove Park Critical Care is a diverse environment, with trainees from ACCS, anesthetics, respiratory medicine and the foundation program, working alongside ACCP (advanced critical care practitioners) in training. We are a cohesive, supportive and friendly unit, and this is consistently reflected in trainee feedback.There is also the exciting opportunity for you to undertake training in point-of-care ultrasound, with access to an echo simulator and weekly ultrasound meetings supported by a sonographer. We would aim for you to be able to undertake accreditation such as FICE during your time here.Musgrove Park Critical Care is proactively supporting a sustainability agenda in the face of the climate emergency, and benefits from a named consultant for sustainability. If you would be interested in doing so, we would support you in undertaking a project in sustainability in critical care.Our critical care unit is an avid participant in clinical research and is well supported by research nurses.
