Do you want to make a significant difference to the lives of children with additional needs? This is an exciting opportunity to be a Senior Care Officer at the brand-new East Riding local authority children’s home for children with special educational needs.
Are you able to lead a small team during a shift at the home?
Can you build positive working relationships with other professionals and carers and learn to provide supervision for a member of the care team?
Can you work on your own initiative?
This role is initially in the new two bedded home. However, this is an evolving service. There are plans for the expansion of the East Riding offer for children with SEND so that they can remain in their local area. It is expected that there will be opportunity to work in the larger home.
Our vision is to ensure that vulnerable children and young people with SEND receive excellent placements in the local area. We are looking for a child centred practitioner who understands the unique role that residential care has in supporting vulnerable children and young people with additional needs to achieve their potential. This includes ensuring the day to day welfare and care of children/ young people with SEND. The post will be on a rota basis including weekend work and sleep in duties.
The successful candidate will have experience of working with children / young people and /or in adult social care settings. This role requires QCF level 3 or equivalent qualification.
