The Senior Buyer role is based within Marine Engineering & Systems.
At our site in Rosyth, we aim to deliver engineering-led and world-leading products and services across our engineering, specialised manufacturing, gas handling systems and naval marine businesses
The role
The difference our new Senior Buyer will make
As a Senior Buyer you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Ensuring purchase orders for allocated products and business areas are processed in a timely manner
Day to day, you’ll be working with other teams within the business to ensure purchasing voice is heard and purchasing requirements are included in all system updates and/or new system deployments, co-ordinate the process for tendering of work by suppliers, ensure tender documents are prepared and dispatched to organisations invited to tender, and subsequent submissions are handled professionally until the order is placed. Ensure purchase orders for allocated products and business areas are processed in a timely manner, suitable suppliers are identified, and price and delivery objectives are negotiated consistent with budgets & targets. Ensure a programme of supplier and sourcing reviews is carried out, such that suppliers and supplier performance is monitored and managed and where appropriate alternative sources are identified to meet current and further objectives and benefit of the business, maintain, and build business relationships with suppliers to ensure delivery schedules are achieved and favourable terms are agreed with the supplier to suit business needs. Work with a prescribed group of suppliers to identify opportunities to improve the level of services or reduce the cost of items purchased, ensure the purchasing system is fully maintained and up to date and that changes to static data and suppliers is fully implemented and identify and gain agreement to improvement plans relating to purchasing systems & processes and following agreement ensure that these are implemented within own area of responsibility

Essential Experience
- Requires an experienced buyer with significant experience. Typically, “A” level entry and including the requirement of professional qualification, e.g., CIPS. This is the level for an experienced buyer with knowledge of the systems, and the role includes a role in generating improvements to purchasing systems and procedures.
- Chartered status
- Obtain or have the ability to obtain basic clearance
