Job content

Our mission is to break down the barriers of today to release the potential of tomorrow. Join us today and release yours.

There are two things that we want to share with anyone considering joining us.

Firstly, we’ve got big ambitions for our colleagues and the future of the organisation. These include our vision that inclusion and accessibility drive every conversation we have and every decision we make. We want our workforce to fully represent the communities and customers we serve, because a diverse business is a better business. We value every colleague, their diversity and the contribution that they make. When we say you’re welcome at Openreach, we really mean it.

Secondly, the one thing the pandemic has taught us is that a lot of current and future colleagues, where and when possible, want to embrace hybrid working. Therefore, we are introducing smart working at Openreach. Smart working means having the flexibility to choose, as a team, how and where you work depending on your team’s deliverables and needs; when you are at your shared core location to connect with others and when not. It may not be for every role, and, as part of the recruitment process, you’ll have the chance to discuss smart working and how it might work for the job you are applying for.

About This Role

Our mission is to deliver full-fibre to 25 million homes and businesses, and we are aiming to reach that number by the end of 2026.

We have made tremendous progress but it’s now time for the next phase of our strategy and that starts with you-as Senior Business Planning & Governance Manager.

Our senior teams play an essential role in the delivery of Openreach’s Major Programmes across a defined region for our product portfolio. In the position of Senior Operations Manager, you will have exceptional direction and project management skills and be accountable for end-to-end structure delivery for major programmes.

Delivering against a defined set of regional projects and programmes you will play a pivotal role in Openreach’s success in building Britain’s connected future.

You’ll Have The Following Responsibilities

As Senior Business Planning & Governance Manager you will support the Region to achieve all its business metrics with accountability for operational performance across everything that is needed to deliver revenue and service.

With your passionate flair, you will drive continuous improvement and endeavour to embed this within the region you support, to drive and enhance service and produce greater profitability for the unit.

You will monitor performance against plan and identify gaps and issues with our delivery whilst providing insight and developing robust plans to enable the business to deliver a world-class network, exceeding service outcomes.

You’ll Have The Following Skills & Experience

No matter what industry or background you come from, your ability to inspire and deliver on high-level programs is key. We want people who can show us their senior leadership skills and who have set fair but stretching targets for themselves and their teams.

You will have proven experience managing successful project teams or operational teams and the ability to see the P&L to a successful outcome.

You will be self-assured at bringing your team on the journey and adept at holding others to account through a questioning and supportive leadership style whilst ensuring that you don’t lose sight of your own commitments.
