Senior Building Sustainability Consultant

We are currently looking for approachable and committed Senior Building Sustainability Consultant to join our Building Energy Performance Group.

The role is suitable for a candidate with a strong engineering background, with one to three years of experience in energy modelling. And it entails working alongside our senior team members to design low carbon building service solutions to develop further in a career as an energy consultant.

To be successful in this role you’ll possess:

• Degree in Mechanical or Thermal Engineering / Building Services Engineering / Building Physics and preferably master’s in building service engineering or relevant sustainability course (CIBSE, IMECH, IET, etc.)
• Candidates with architectural qualification will be considered against meeting the role requirements and display of knowledge of building service system design.
• The ability to carry out energy strategy reports for commercial and domestic buildings aligns with the "New London Plan 2021" and regional local authorities requirements.
• Able to work with building design teams internally and externally to deliver planning energy strategies and passive design solutions.
• Ability to develop OR expert knowledge of building energy simulation models to build energy /passive design analyses to aid in zero carbon building design.
• Understanding of energy, comfort, and passive design-related compliance requirements from Green Certification schemes such as BREEAM / LEED.
• Knowledge OR accreditation in "Part L Building Regulation Compliance tools" to aid energy strategies for building planning and end of construction EPC using approved used thermal modelling and SAP methodologies.
• Providing regular feedback of progress to the team leader to assist in the management of delivery and ensure that project delivery meets the client’s objectives and requirements.
• Should have a basic understanding of building service systems and influence plant specifications to reduce energy consumption.
• Ability to interpret energy/passive design-related information found in architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing drawings and specifications.
• Ensure tasks are carried out and completed following the agreed scope of works, timescales, and budgets.
• Mentoring of graduate sustainability consultants.

And the following will be good to have, but not essentials:

• Qualification or Familiarity with BREEAM / HQM / LEED / WELL
• Ability to / experience in carrying out the detailed calculation and whole building simulations to predict operational energy based on the CIBSE TM54 and UK NABERS methodologies.
• Support ongoing energy audits for ESOS, ISO 50001 and Post Occupancy Evaluation (POE), and Building Performance Evaluation (BPE) studies to optimize building; operations and support clients achieve their CO2 reduction targets.
• Have a basic understanding of BMS, HVAC controls, metering, and integrated systems design.
