We are seeking applications from motivated, dynamic and confident individuals for this exciting post of Senior Biomedical Scientist in the Haematology and Blood Transfusion department in Pathology.

The successful candidate will be responsible for service delivery in the Blood Transfusion laboratory at Royal Stoke University Hospital.

This busy ISO 15189 accredited laboratory supports a wide range of clinical specialties, processing in excess of 67,000 group and screens per year. Responsibilities include staff training & supervision, equipment management, implementing service developments and overseeing the production and interpretation of results and issue of blood components/products within the transfusion laboratory.

You must be HCPC registered with an MSc in Biomedical Sciences (or equivalent Blood Transfusion qualification) and substantial post registration experience in Haematology & Blood Transfusion. Evidence of ongoing specialist training is essential as is a practical, hands-on approach combined with in-depth specialty knowledge.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate knowledge of relevant accreditation standards plus a strategic awareness of current issues relating to Pathology, particularly those which affect Blood Transfusion. Excellent communication skills are essential for the role, as is experience in using a range of Pathology IT systems.
