Experienced Autism Specialist - Autism Specialist Resource Provision - Experienced SEN Teaching Assistants Wanted

Location: Slough.

Start Date: September 2021.

Pay: £65-80 a day.

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant specialising in Autism?

Are you ready for a fresh challenge in an industry leading Autism Specialist Provision?

This outstanding Autism Specialist Provision for students aged 5 to 20 are looking for a passionate, experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their industry leading team. Previous experience working with Autism and relevant certifications are highly desirable, either with children or adults. This could be from an academic setting, but alternative sources are also highly desirable, such as residential care work.

The successful applicant will work as a SEN Teaching Assistant as part of an over 600 person team providing highly specialised care to over 80 students. You will be responsible for providing 1:1 support and small group support to those vulnerable students who need it most. In this role, you will work with students with a diverse range of Complex Needs, from high functioning to non-verbal and aggressive. Patience, compassion, and strong behaviour management skills are a must.

You will get to work alongside work alongside the therapists and psychologists based on-site at the school. You will be mentored and have the opportunity to shadow sessions and learn from them. The built for purpose site will provide a first class environment where you will use holistic and restorative techniques to ensure the wellbeing of students with complex needs, whilst still instilling the value of education.

The Role
  • SEN Teaching Assistant.
  • 5-20, EYFS, Primary, and Secondary aged students who all have EHCPs with Autism.
  • Holistic and restorative therapies introduced, where even a little progress is a win.
  • Emphasis on Early Years and Non-Verbal students, restorative and holistic methods used to gain engagement
  • Secondary students with learning levels significantly lower than their age.
  • Previous experience working with autism and young people is of great use.
  • Giving the students objectives and as much independence as possible, especially those students that are in assisted living.
  • OT, Speech and Languages deployed in school.
  • ABA and CBT Therapies employed, you will be trained in ABA disciplines and method.
  • 1:1 and small group work with an emphasis on key, personal and functional skills.
