About the role
As a Security Officer you will be responsible to the Security Team Leader for ensuring a safe environment for staff, students and visitors on campus and in off campus buildings, by proactively engaging with students, staff and visitors, identifying and addressing vulnerabilities and responding to incidents. Shifts are rostered on a four on and four off basis.
About you
Ideally you should have some knowledge and experience of the security industry including patrolling, CCTV, key holding and access control systems. As part of the role you may be required to provide security advice and guidance to staff and students within the University. It is therefore essential that you are a credible individual and above all should have excellent communication and customer service skills.
Essential requirements:
- SIA (Security Industry Authority) Door Supervisor Badge
- A Full UK Manual Driving Licence held for a minimum of 6 months
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Physically capable of carrying out the demands of the role
- First Aid at Work Certificate (full training will be provided if required)
- Able to perform well under pressure
Desirable requirements:
- Previous experience of working in a Security environment would be an advantage
- Previous customer service experience
- A working knowledge of IT systems
