Overview

/ Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Security Manager to work in one of our UK locations to cover the Europe & Africa region. This is a key role ensuring that Wood maintains compliance and emergency preparedness across the region

Under the guidance of the VP Security, the Security Manager oversees the execution of the company security strategy. They will provide guidance, perform security risk assessments and physical security reviews of company sites, emergency preparedness program evaluations as well as developing and implementing effective risk mitigation strategies

Responsibilities

Management

  • Assists the VP Security in providing security input and approval for High risk business travel as well as bids in Medium risk or above
  • Integrate, at the regional level, the security policies, systems, processes and procedures, aligning with and taking into consideration the business / project strategy, the customer and the prevailing threat
  • In line with the company security strategy, embeds the security risk assurance process in assigned businesses, and conducts site visits to ensure implementation
  • Monitors security risk control effectiveness and initiates improvement interventions
  • Audits organizational capacity and capability assigned to manage security - related operational risks and provides feedback as needed

Leadership

  • Upholds and promotes the company’s Core Values as a Group HSSE&S representative and senior safety leader and particularly when visiting operations and client sites
  • Monitors, supports and coaches company Emergency Management Teams within assigned region

Training

  • Develops and delivers ongoing Security Awareness Programs for all employees to brief them on security risks, and their responsibilities towards security
  • Assists in the identification, selection, training and mentoring of Security Focal Points in assigned businesses
  • Provides travel security advice and training to personnel through presentations, information sessions and other means

Communication

  • Briefs the VP Security on regional threat developments, as well as new country entry security risks and their required controls
  • Formally and informally reports findings from operational reviews
  • Responsible for regular liaison and engagement with company management teams within the assigned region as directed by the VP Security

Partnership

  • Creates and maintains strategic and operational relationships with relevant government, emergency response, security, intelligence and law enforcement agencies
  • Builds relationships with client and contractor security teams to learn and incorporate best practices
  • Partners with IT function to develop comprehensive security strategies to protect the intellectual property of the company

Operations

  • Ensures the company identifies and understands the security - related risk and the required mitigation strategies for high risk, non - permissive, and complex operating environments
  • Conducts field visits to locations where current or future operations will be conducted to develop in - country knowledge and relationships with asset protection / security experts, first responders and travel enforcement agencies

Skills

/ Qualifications

Qualifications

:

  • Good experience of security and emergency / crisis management
  • Fluent written and verbal English language skills
  • Proficiency to speak, read, and write fluently in a second language relevant to the region of responsibility (preferrable)
  • Frequent travel is a key component of this role as is the need to be flexible and responsive to the needs of the business within the region
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearances

Job specific experience:

  • Leadership within security or security - related roles, preferably within the resource / energy / engineering sector
  • Working with integration teams
  • Previous consulting and project management experience (preferable)
  • Procurement of security services

Knowledge

of:

  • Geopolitical environment and cultural awareness of assigned region
  • Industry knowledge of oil & gas, mining, power, clean energy, renewables, environment & infrastructure
  • Security and Emergency Management industry best practices
  • Risk management
