Job Responsibilities

The security manager is responsible for the Viasat UK security management system. You will have knowledge of MOD, NCSC and ISO security requirements and principles and be confident in the implementation within an agile, high growth organisation. You will understand Viasat technology in order to appropriately represent Viasat at security meetings and working groups and to back brief internal stakeholders on industry change affecting strategy

Responsibilities And Duties
  • Carry out the responsibilities of the Security Controller of a list X company
  • Be responsible for compliance to relevant ISO and other standards such as 27001, 28000, JSP and Cyber Essentials Plus
  • Appropriate documentation and process to provide security governance within the organization
  • Identify & Manage security risks to Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability of Viasat UK internal operations and products/services
  • Creation and maintenance of documentation with regards to integrity to support the evaluation of CAPS approved products
  • Provide appropriate security training and education to our employees; inclusive of inductions
  • Provide on-site presence to facilitate visitor and customer meetings and escorting where appropriate
  • Responsible for the clearance(vetting) of UK employees
  • Manage the control and implementation of Security Aspects Letters inclusive of ‘flowdown’ to internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide central governance for all UK sites
  • Align with and provide support to our US head office and other global offices where appropriate
  • Work with the Operations Director to create and maintain the security strategy to align to Viasat UK strategic plan.
  • Communicate effectively across all teams
  • Provide regular updates to the business
  • Champion the Viasat culture and values through own behaviours
  • Create and promote an inclusive and collaborative environment within own team and across the organisation
  • Participate in a feedback culture to provide positive challenge where appropriate and openly express own views and opinions
  • Act as a mentor and coach to the wider organisation
  • Identify opportunities for own development through regular discussion and reviews
In addition, from time to time, the role be asked undertake other tasks and responsibilities not covered above in order to achieve project or corporate objectives.

Skills / Knowledge / Attributes
  • Minimum 5 years working in a similar role and with MOD/NCSC
  • Ability translate security requirements into operational systems that enable agility and strategic value
  • Experience with personnel vetting
  • Experience communicating with government departments
  • Excellent communication skills - both written, verbal and with the ability to communicate at all levels
  • Effective collaboration and positive behaviour
  • Effective and flexible team player
  • Ability to work independently
  • Highly organised, self-motivated, able to multi-task and work to deadlines
  • Able to build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers
  • Must have, or be capable of obtaining, UK security clearance
  • Be IT literate in MS Office Word, Excel, etc
  • Be reliable and hard working
  • Self-motivated and flexible
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
Qualifications
  • Education level. Degree or appropriate industry experience
  • DISA membership
  • Must be able to obtain a DV Clearance
If the Federal Executive Order for Government Contractors becomes effective, this role may require vaccination. In such instance, absent an approved accommodation based on a religious or medical reason, employees in this role will be required to be fully vaccinated no later than applicable deadlines, which are unknown at this point.
