A Section Engineer will pre-engineer, estimate and execute scopes of work, ensuring that they are completed in a safe, effective and timely manner.


Directly responsible for scoping, estimating, planning and supervising work activities onsite. They are client facing with responsibility for all aspects of job pre-engineering through to execution of works onsite. They have direct responsibility to uphold a high standard of workmanship and health and safety.
 Section Engineers play a key role in the health and safety of any contract.
 They develop, implement and monitor the Safe Systems of Work that we use.
 They are “hands on” with the safety and in ensuring the highest possible standards of workmanship in our workplaces.
 They have responsibility to risk assess and produce required risk assessments and method statements for work scopes.
 They are responsible for putting your people to work, briefing the workforce on requirements and health and safety matters.
 They have responsibility to check that adequate controls are in place to reduce risk.
 They have responsibility to check that the workplaces in which you place your workforce are acceptable and safe.
 They have responsibility to carry out HSE Audits and submit safety improvements notices where required.
 They must supervise your workforce and escalate issues to the Site Manager as appropriate.
 They must ensure they understand the essential safety requirements.
 They have responsibility to scope and pre-engineer all site work.
 They have a responsibility to liaise with client Planners/Engineers for new work and conduct site visits.
 They have a responsibility to produce work packs and compile all documentation required to execute a workscope.
 They have a responsibility to estimate all scoped works and submit costs for approval by the client.
 They have a responsibility to attend Safety meeting and client led HSE processes where required.
 They have a responsibility to submit the required safety paperwork and planning application forms to the client to allow scheduled work to proceed.
 They have a responsibility to monitor and report progress of workscopes, both internally and to the client.
 They have a responsibility to order/ hire all required materials/ equipment/ plant required for work scopes.
 They have a responsibility to measure up and produce Isometric / dimensional site surveys
 They have a responsibility to build permits for workscopes and act as a performing authority.
 They must be flexible with working arrangements for reactive maintenance activities


Experence :


 Experience of work within the Process, Plant or Power Generation industries in particular an Oil Refinery
 Knowledge of relevant ASME standards advantageous.
 Experience of measuring pipework and producing isometric drawings.
 AutoCAD experience advantageous.
 Strong MS Excel skills
 Experience working on TAR pre-engineering teams


Qualifications :


 You will need to be qualified to Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) NVQ Mechanical or Pipe Fitting Level 3

 IOSH Managing Safely certificate.

 Experience using Maximo / RAPNet permit system preferable.

 You will need a full clean British driving license.
