The Role

We have an exciting new role for an experienced Scientist to join our Battery Materials sector. The successful candidate will join the Battery Materials eLNO Development group, responsible for lab scale synthesis of next generation lithium ion battery materials. In this role you will support projects and lead workstreams to innovate and develop new eLNO materials of commercial value.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and innovative team, obtain exposure to the process of technology transfer and build on your existing knowledge of the battery materials industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support large projects and lead workstreams across the eLNO Development Team. Targeting product innovations and fundamental understanding that create value in 1-3 year timeframes.
  • Responsible for the synthesis and understanding of novel eLNO materials; responsible for understanding how to control product properties by process, and for linking product properties to applications testing performance.
  • Collaborating with the global applications team for characterisation and performance testing.
  • Support customer sampling of lab scale materials; support technology transfer required for larger scale material.
  • Interacting with legal department to generate and capture IP of commercial value for CAM products
Are you the ideal candidate?
  • A degree in Chemistry or relevant scientific discipline with demonstrable R&D experience; a PhD or equivalent industrial R&D experience is advantageous
  • Experience with different materials synthesis methods and characterisation of mixed metal hydroxides/oxides
  • Experience with high nickel cathode materials and electrochemical testing will be viewed as a bonus
  • Have experience in producing, interpreting, and reporting scientific data sets; a good working knowledge of statistics will be viewed as advantageous
  • Have experience in working on complex work programmes and projects with multiple internal and, on occasions, external stakeholders with an ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Be able to advance projects independently, representing the team in interactions with other teams in JM
  • Have a stringent attitude to working safely
  • Ability to travel domestically
