ResponsibilitiesJob purpose:
  • Business partner the senior leadership team, and build strong relationships between finance and all other departments at site, ensuring engagement and understanding of financial impacts.
  • Be the site finance lead in relation to the daily and weekly QCDM process.
  • Coach and develop the site finance team and encourage support at the daily and weekly QCDM.
  • Leadership of site activities related to the provision of accurate and timely financial reporting and management information.
  • Be the link between the site finance team and the SFM, escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Ownership of period end financial reporting and presenting results to the central finance team.
  • Lead the site AOP build.
  • Support SFM to deliver site financial priorities.
  • Ensure GCS and SOX compliance is adhered to at all times.
Accountabilities:
  • Coaching and development of the site finance team. Includes career planning, objective setting, prioritisation of tasks, and managing day to day performance.
  • Responsible for monthly financial reporting of site performance to the BU, ensuring that all systems are updated correctly.
  • Business partnering with budget holders and site senior leadership team to ensure engagement and that financial priorities are understood and discussed in the correct forums with the correct audience.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the Management Accountants are providing timely information to the shift leadership teams and other relevant stakeholders to drive site financial performance.
  • Lead site AOP build with inputs from the Management Accountants, reviewing with SFM prior to submission.
  • Attend the daily and weekly QCDM, actively participate in these meetings and ensure that there is alignment on the cost KPI’s between operational teams and finance, and providing coaching if required.
  • Support site Kaizen Leaders and Green Belts with project charters, savings calculations, and tracking of productivity delivery in power steering.
  • Finance lead for inventory counts (fixed assets, engineering spares, raw materials and finished goods.)
  • Ensure GCS and SOX compliance. Work with the Management Accountants and Financial Control team to establish and embed relevant financial controls at site.
  • Work with the SFM to set the agenda for the Projects & Systems Accountant.
  • Support the SFM with other work streams as required and deputise in their absence
Job Dimensions:
  • Financial
Responsibility for the reporting and control of an AOP spend in excess of £45mm (Skelmersdale) / £27mm (Cupar). Lead finance team to ensure that all major variances investigated and reported as deemed necessary. Decisions made on the accruals & prepayments at period end. Responsible for leading the AOP build and submission in line with BU deadlines and monthly productivity reporting. Understanding of manufacturing accounts, BOM’s, labour recovery, including an understanding of the debits and credits behind these transactions. Ensure GCS and SOX compliance.
  • Non – Financial
Ensure that the correct financial priorities are communicated at site in the correct forums. Form strong trusted business partner relationships with key stakeholders at site and the BU. Line management of two or three direct reports (dependent upon site), providing day to day management and guidance and also long term development and coaching. Coaching and auditing of all site personnel on site financial controls. Functional site expert. Support site lean manufacturing, in particular the QCDM process.Decision-Making Authority
  • Finance lead at QCDM meetings (daily and weekly) ensuring correct actions are taken.
  • Period close: Autonomous role, decisions on financial variances to accept/investigate against a deadline. Discusses position with Site Finance Manager prior to closure.
  • Work with the SFM to submit a robust monthly forecast, be able to explain movements to previous forecasts.
  • Responsibility for site AOP build.
  • Coach the site finance team to empower them to make their own informed decisions.
  • Ensure GCS and SOX controls are adhered to for the site and create local controls where required
Qualifications
  • CIMA/ACCA qualified (or nearly qualified)
  • Manufacturing accounting experience
  • Business partnering experience
  • Development and coaching experience
  • Experience of working with Lean manufacturing (QCDM)
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Drive for results/ability to work under pressure (role is deadline driven)
  • Ability to influence upwards to affect the results & progress of the action plan & AOP.
  • Communication skills to all levels
